The jazz world honors a legend and welcomes a rising star. Syndee Winters Sings Lena Horne, a 10-track tribute released via Wake Your Words/Bassline Live and distributed digitally by The Orchard/Sony Music, arrived on what would have been Lena Horne’s 108th birthday, marking both a celebration of legacy and a powerful artistic arrival. Broadway powerhouse and jazz vocalist Syndee Winters (Hamilton, Motown, The Lion King) merges theatrical polish with deep jazz roots in this luminous project, produced by revered jazz pioneers Eulis Cathey and Carl Griffin. A 2024 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition 1st Runner-Up, Winters reimagines classics such as “Stormy Weather” and “If You Believe” with elegance, emotional depth, and narrative clarity. The album also features “Alive,” a contemporary anthem of resilience written by Andromeda Turre, bridging past and present. Winters is joined by a stellar lineup of musicians, including Michael Eckroth, Freddie Hendrix, Warren Wolf, Alexis Lombre, John Davis, Brad Allen Williams, Jason Ennis, Allan Mednard, Edward Perez, and Grammy Award winner Ben Williams, resulting in a collection that feels both reverent and refreshingly alive. Taking the Jazz Radio charts by surprise, debuting in the Top 40 on Jazzweek, critics are taking notice. Upscale Magazine writes, “Syndee Winters, a powerhouse performer with Broadway chops and jazz lineage, delivers a dazzling performance across every track… She doesn’t mimic Lena. She honors her.” Right On! Digital calls the album “jam-packed with wonderful, classic music,”* while critic Van Taylor affirms that Winters’ unique style “brings Horne’s music to life for a new generation.” Pressed on vinyl for discerning listeners, "Syndee Winters Sings Lena Horne" is a tribute, a statement, and the emergence of an essential new voice.

Pug At The Beach loves Jack Canfield
Format: Paperback
Far too many people wander through life unfulfilled because they lack the skill set needed to experience life to its most bountiful. That's in part due to a fear of asking for that which brings us what we need, want or desire. People are afraid. Afraid of rejection, afraid of looking foolish, and a whole host of other things. Be afraid no longer. The Aladdin Factor will teach you how to ask without fear. Canfield's book taught me how to ask in a powerful, confident way that would guarantee my success. Simple phrasing combined with subtle reflection made for a life transforming read. At Pug Headquarters, it's a must read. Diana Taylor Top Dog Pug At The Beach Sometimes all you need in life is the wisdom of a good dog.TM

Good not great
Format: Paperback
Good advice on asking, could be a bit more content on how to actually ask. Most examples seemed to be more made up than practical. Still good book.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive...
Format: Paperback
The writing and the approach in the book are not earth shattering. In fact, I wish there was a little more meat or pizzaz in the content. So, why the recommendation? Simple - the content at its core is incredibly powerful - and we all need the reminder. Our gentieel approach to communications and emotional interaction has left us forgetting to ASK for things. We expect the world to be mind readers, and get upset, frustrated or depressed when we don't get what we want. Of course, since we never actually ASKED for what we wanted, we rely on guesswork and luck to achieve our dreams and goals. The genie in the lamp could grant wishes, but those wishes needed to be spoken by Aladdin. Similarly, we are all in a position to achieve our goals and dreams, but they must be spoken. Even within ourselves, we cannot harness our own power of desire and subconscious until we solidify the desire by asking for it. An absolute must read - even if the writing style is a bit flat - the content is NOT.
