Six Questions Your Expedia Cruises Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

This franchise unit financial model was built using detailed research into the travel agency sector to ensure your projections are grounded. We pre-populated the model with specific assumptions like a 9% royalty fee and a $49,000 initial franchise fee, alongside a year one EBITDA target of $220,000. These inputs are fully editable, so you can adjust the $950,000 starting revenue or the $10,000 monthly rent to fit your specific location. Honestly, having a researched starting point saves you dozens of hours in the planning phase.

What is the profitability trajectory?

The unit hits profitability in its first year, generating $220,000 in EBITDA by the end of year one. With a break-even date of April 2026, the model shows a fast ramp-up period of only four months. Four months to break even is a fast start for any retail concept. We estimate net profit by subtracting 13% in franchise-related fees and your $16,700 in monthly fixed costs from your cruise and land package comissions.

Profitability Levers

  • Increase cruise booking volume
  • Optimize travel consultant FTEs
  • Reduce event production costs

How much capital is required?

To launch this unit in the US, you will need approximately $258,000 in initial capital for physical assets and fees, plus a healthy cash buffer. This includes the $49,000 franchise fee and $85,000 for retail space improvements to meet brand standards. Fit-out costs are your biggest upfront hurdle before you even open the doors. The model also accounts for computer workstations and digital displays to create that premium VIP lounge feel.

Capital Allocation

  • Retail Space Improvements: $85,000
  • Franchise Fee: $49,000
  • VIP Lounge Fitout: $35,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Investors can expect an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 7.7% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 2.28 over the five-year period. The payback period is estimated at 2 years, which is quite efficient for a retail-based service model. A two-year payback is solid for retail, especially when you consider the scaling revenue that reaches $1.99 million by year five. These metrics assume you hit your cruise and land package targets as planned.

Investment Metrics

  • IRR: 7.7%
  • Payback Period: 2 Years
  • Return on Equity: 2.28
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the break-even point?

Your monthly break-even revenue is reached in April 2026, just four months after the January launch. The biggest driver affecting this is your fixed cost base, specifically the $10,000 monthly rent and the 13% combined royalty and marketing burden. Volume is the only way to outrun fixed rent in a high-visibility shopping center. If your cruise commissions dip below the $29,000 monthly average in year one, your break-even timeline will defintely slide.

Break-even Levers

  • Increase planning fee volume
  • Control store manager salary
  • Maximize ancillary commissions
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway?

The lowest cash point occurs in March 2026, with a minimum cash balance of $962,000 after all startup costs and initial operating losses are paid. You need enough runway to cover the first four months of operations before the unit becomes self-sustaining. March 2026 is your tightest spot, so keeping a tight lid on office consumables and janitorial costs early on is smart. We recommend a cash buffer to handle any delays in commission payouts from travel suppliers.

Cash Flow Actions

  • Phase digital display spend
  • Delay marketing specialist hire
  • Manage office maintenance spend
[dynamic_pic13]

How do scenarios change outcomes?

The difference between the Low and High scenarios often comes down to your average ticket on luxury land packages and cruise upsells. In the High case, year five revenue can exceed $1.99 million, significantly boosting your 2.28 ROE. Execution in the lounge drives the high case, as immersive displays help close larger deals. If revenue stays at the year one level of $950,000 without growth, your payback period will extend well beyond the 2-year mark.

High Case Odds

  • Higher luxury land capture
  • Better VIP lounge conversion
  • Target high-net-worth retirees

Seams Separate Quickly
Size: 8-9, Color: Red/Black Check
They fall apart. The seams are terrible and almost immediately separate. Although they are warm and comfortable until stuff comes through the separated seams.

Meeting my expectations....
Size: 14-15, Color: Grey/White Check
I am a male with pretty large feet (Mens size 14US) and wanted some very warm slippers to wear around the house. I have nerve issues in my toes and if I don't keep my feet very warm they start to hurt. I wanted something both comfortable and warm. I received these a few days ago and so far they have done a great job at keeping my feet warm. The linings are thick and fluffy and the bottoms feel like they have a memory foam inner sole in them. The tops can either be worn up or rolled down. The actual soles are a soft leather-like material. They are thicker than normal cloth, but not hard like rubber soled slippers (I actually wanted something that was more of a slipper and less of a "shoe"). The only down side is that they don't really seem to have a left and right to them (both slippers seem identical), and for awhile no matter how I wore them, they felt a bit like they were on the wrong feet. However, they seem to have formed themselves to my feet and now (through wearing them) it definitely feels like there is a left and a right. I don't know how long these will last, but they were not expensive, so if I get a few months of wear from them, I will be happy and will just order another pair when these wear out. They aren't the most attractive slippers in the world, but they aren't horrible looking and they are very functional.

for polar fleece slippers with leather soles, these are quite nice
Size: 8-9, Color: Red/Black Check
I bought these to replace some Mug Lugs slippers last fall after they had started to come apart from barely a year of use (they were knitted) and have been wearing them constantly since then. The polar fleece does easily pill somewhat but get a hard use and are quite comfortable too. I wear these in the house most of the time as my feet do not like to wear shoes all day. They are comfortable, and do seem to hold up well. The only other issue is until I get my office chair mat replaced, these catch and can cause problems and have a little, but not enough to worry too much about. They supposedly have an anti slip design on the bottom, but if flour falls on the kitchen floor, not so slip resistant. I chose these as one, they are red, but also plaid and like them a lot. Hopefully, I get more than a years use out of them. I have had several polar fleece sock type slippers similar to these in the past, and the last polar fleece pair in Dk Blue and from Land End finally after several years of constant use, the stitching began to come apart and the sole was separating from the body of the slipper on one slipper. They do keep the feet warm, with or without socks and can, at times, get my feet too warm but I enjoy them quite a bit.

Great toy to play fetch with the dogs.
Color: Black/White, Size: Large
These balls are a great dog toy to play fetch with your dogs. This not the first ball I have gotten for the dogs. Just the right size and weight for medium sized dogs. I have less concerns about them possibly choking on these soccer balls versus tennis balls. So I can leave them out for them to play with. The are easy to inflate using the included pump. My only concern is the durability of the straps as my dogs have almost torn off one the straps of the previous ball I purchased.

Color: Black/White, Size: Medium
A must have for my pup! I have bought this at least 5 times. She eventually pops them and I need a new one. It's an amazing toy that she can thrash and we can play fetch with
