About

This in-person training course is for individuals with pre-existing letterpress and/or bookbinding experience who want to rent studio time at CBA and gain access to our printshop, bindery, and specialized equipment.
Potential renters must have enough experience—either through classes taken at CBA or comparable ones elsewhere—to safely work with our equipment. The training covers:
  • Studio policies
  • How to reserve time in the studio and on presses
  • Basic press maintenance
  • How to use our guillotine, board shears, and presses safely
  • Clean up procedures
After completing this course, individuals can sign up for supervised printing and can reserve time in the bindery. All renters are required to print with supervision until they receive approval from a supervisor to print unsupervised.
