Product Details

The PT50 Series Sharpness Testers from Edge-On-Up allow you to precisely measure and quantify the sharpness of any edge. These systems calculate the force in grams required to cut through a calibrated test medium. The resulting number provides an accurate indication of the blade's sharpness.

For reference, a scale is provided to correlate the score to the BESS range, from 2000 BESS (unsharpened knife) to 0 BESS (maximum sharpness). Knives scoring below 50 BESS are considered razor sharp. The lower the BESS value, the sharper the blade, as less force is needed to cut.
