Reproduction of Spring in the Greenhouse Neutral by Carol Rowan
Carol Rowan — "Spring in the Greenhouse Neutral" is a masterful example of contemporary botanical illustration that elegantly bridges the gap between traditional still life and modern minimalist aesthetics. The work aligns with the enduring tradition of botanical art, yet departs from historical conventions through its restrained palette and focus on atmospheric mood rather than meticulous detail. Compositionally, the piece employs a centered, balanced arrangement that draws the viewer’s eye across the row of terracotta pots, creating a rhythmic visual flow. The use of negative space is deliberate and expansive, enhancing the sense of quiet contemplation and allowing the subtle variations in tone and form to emerge. The color palette is characterized by low saturation and a harmonious blend of neutral beiges, soft olives, and muted earth tones, which underscores the work’s tranquil character. This approach to color and composition reflects a broader shift in late 20th and early 21st-century art towards understated elegance and emotional subtlety. The technique, likely a watercolor or mixed media, emphasizes soft transitions and a painterly texture that evokes the delicate nature of the subject. Historically, this work can be situated within the lineage of artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Helen Frankenthaler, who reimagined natural forms through a lens of abstraction and emotional resonance. Rowan’s piece is not merely a depiction of flowers but a meditation on stillness, renewal, and the quiet beauty of the natural world, making it a compelling and timeless contribution to the genre. For more art by Carol Rowan click here.

challenging and inspiring
Format: Kindle
I trudged my way through sections of this that seemed overly legalistic, but all in all, another inspiring text from saints whose sole desire was to be united with God, to find their all in Christ, and to become more and more like him through his suffering, death, and resurrection.

This makes Scripture so easy to understand.
Format: Hardcover
If I have any complaints about this study Bible, it's that it doesn't have a large print edition. I do have The Amplified Bible (not a study edition) in large print; therefore, I have the option to read the large print and then refer to the study Bible for the explanations. This is a fantastic study Bible for beginners as well as us seasoned vets in Christianity. A clarification: The print in the study Bible isn't tiny; it's more of a 9-point, comfort font. There are footnotes at the bottom of each page; however, Scriptures are clarified right in the text, making for seamless reading with no interruptions. At the back of the Bible, there are maps in color; theological notes index by title, and the most complete Topical Index (aka concordance) I've ever seen. I have owned and still own many study Bibles; but I am most impressed with this one. If you are a KJV-only believer, I highly recommend having this one handy to help you understand the KJV and/or NKJV even better. My strict KJV-only pastor even recommends The Amplified Study Bible to new believers and to us older ones, too. Complex spiritual matters are well explained. I highly recommend this for everyone, no matter where you are in your spiritual journey!

Love this Bible so much!
Format: Hardcover
I love this bible! It has great size for print, not squinting. It explains at the bottom of the page to further explain parts of the verses. Explains further in parenthesis as well. I love this bible!

Outstanding Study Bible with easy to read large print
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I enjoy using study Bibles and this is my first Amplified Bible, so buying the newly updated Amplified Study Bible was very appealing to me. What wasn't evident from the product page is that the Bible is in large print. While the print is not huge, it is very readable. The Bible is large at over 2,000 pages; however, it is not too heavy and bulky for my use.
I am easily able to keep notes in the room left on the margins and the paper quality is nice enough to hold up to my ink pens.
I am really enjoying the “amplified” part of this Bible. As I mentioned, this is my first experience with this translation and I wasn't sure what to expect. I find that the amplified meanings (in parentheses) adds to my understanding of the verses and to the overall meaning of what I am reading.
The study portion of the Bible with the explanations and cross-references is done extremely well. That there are full color maps at the back is another wonderful resource.
I picked up the hardback version for myself and will be picking up another one for my husband. That way we can share our Bible study time. I am also planning on giving this as a gift to family members. I plan to buy the soft faux-leather brown and the purple for birthday gifts throughout the year. While I am generally a fan of Kindle books, I find that, for me, a printed Bible is preferable.
