You ask a spectator if they want to play a game of chance. You pull out a very high-denomination banknote or your credit card and say that you will put it at stake. Whoever wins will be given the banknote or credit card as a prize! You slip the prize into a flat, clear plexiglass container and lock it with a padlock.

Now, you introduce eight small keys and show that only one opens the padlock. The eight keys are dropped into a glass and thoroughly mixed up. Now, one at a time, the spectators pick a key and try their chance at opening the padlock.

They won't succeed at opening it. In the end, you (or even one of the spectators) try the last key that was not chosen, and sure enough, it opens the padlock. After the high-tension performance, you can finally relax, return your money, and receive your well-deserved applause.

It is an effect you can carry in your pocket but will be entertaining even for the largest stages.
