The width of the Sword is calibrated with a margin of error so it mimics making putts of longer lengths.
A Few Calculations:
- A Golf Ball is 1.68". The cup is 4.25". The .5" on the bottom of the ball contacts the putting surface.
- The Sword is the width of the ball. When the ball goes off line .5" it falls off the Sword.
- This margin of error combined with the length of the putt creates a direction angle the putt can roll off-line and still fall in the cup.
- If the putt rolls off the end of the Sword then it will go in the cup from the distances marked.
- Eaaaasy-McGeeeezy.
Getting started
- Find a straight putt and set the end of the Sword 12 inches from the cup (or wall if used indoors).
- Set a ball on the "3 foot" line (it is 12" from the end of the Sword). Hit putts and roll them off the end of the Sword. This is the equivalent of sinking a 3 foot putt. When you can successfully roll 5 consecutive putts, move back to the "6 foot" line and repeat. Repeat from the end of the Sword and you are a Master.
- Hit a single ball from each of the distances marked on the Sword
Tour Average Drill
- Tour players make 75% of 5' putts, and 50% of 8' putts.
- Use the marks on the Sword to see if you can putt at Tour skill level.
Create the Ultimate Putting Station
- Add the Putting Alignment Mirror to create a simple and effective practice station.
- Slide the mirror on the "handle" of the Sword.
- Check your eye alignment, putter face and restrict your stroke length.
- You can also create a putter gate with tees in the slots of the mirror.
- The result? Drills that address alignment, impact position, stroke length and path. Wow!

Excellent resource for defending why Christianity is not rooted in mythology

I bought this book as required reading for an introductory Old Testament class I was taking in seminary. Sad to say, the textbook mostly collects dust. To this day, I use Oswalt's book for reference and continue to recommend the reading of it to others.
I do not believe one can fully defend the Christian faith without first knowing how firmly convinced some scholars and historians are that Christianity is rooted in mythology. I will not lie. If you read about some of these myths in a silo, you may find yourself leaning toward such false beliefs. When you take a step back and consider the time in history in which the Old Testament was written, the picture becomes more clear.
In the introduction to the Old Testament class, we also read Ancient Near Eastern Thought and the Old Testament by John H. Walton. Again, the text book is mostly collecting dust, I also repeatedly use this one as a reference. I would strongly recommend reading both books. The second is more academic in style than the first, but it helps lend further context.

An inspiring take on the story of the Bible and reality.

This was an absolute pleasure to read. Oswalt utilizes his knowledge of ancient near east culture and religion to thorough debunk any effort to one might make to pretend that the Bible is of a similar mythology.

Is the Bible Really Unique?
Format: Kindle
Oswalt takes up the question of the uniqueness of the Christian Bible by focusing on the Old Testament (which is also the holy book of the Jews) and its similarities and differences to the myths of the periods in which it was put together. His comparison and contrast make for very interesting reading. He allows the two world views to stand alone, allowing the reader to understand his conclusions without forcing him/her to agree with the author. In reading this book, I also began to notice some very interesting parallels between the ancient worldview of "continuity" (versus the biblical view that Oswalt calls "transcendence") and some modern views being espoused in the Western world. Definitely worth a read whether or not you agree with him. It will help broaden your view both of your view and of the other side's view.

Good Core Content but I won't read it again
Format: Kindle
This book makes a strong stand for the position that the Bible does not fit within the genre of myth. That is the positive aspects of this work. However, this book at times seems somewhat philosophical, it can be hard to follow the author's logic, and it does not adequately cover one of the most fundamental questions the author poses. For example, the question of whether the theology of the Bible should receive special credence if the historical basis it rests on is found to be incorrect is asked, but the answer given is short and does not fully interact with the question which I found to be very disappointing.
