This is an individual Black Rook from our Plastic Chess Set with a 37" King.
For most of our customers, this is a replacement piece for their MegaChess Plastic Giant Chess Set with a 37" King. This piece is designed for rugged, outdoor use in both residential and commercial spaces. It is designed for durability rather than for home decor. If you are interested in a chess piece for decor or decoration, we make more than 60 different giant pawns. We would suggest looking at the perfect, fiberglass, or teak pieces if you are interested in using this piece for decor.
The MegaChess Giant Plastic Chess 25", 37", and 49" Pieces are designed as component pieces. Our 25" Plastic Set is our standard outdoor giant chess set. By inserting one extension between the head and base of the chess pieces you get a chess piece in our 37" tall set. By inserting two extensions, you get a chess piece from our 49" set of chess pieces.

The chess pieces screw together to form the final piece. Assembly typically takes less than a minute apiece. Make sure to twist the components tightly together to form a tight seal and for the taller pieces to stand straight. Most customers can easily tighten the pieces with their hands. Some of our customers get an extra grip on the pieces with rubber-faced gloves.
The plastic MegaChess pieces are made of indestructible high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycled plastic. These chess pieces are rugged, waterproof, and UV-resistant injection-molded, hollow plastic. The chess set withstands the outdoor elements very well and will retain its color. We have these sets in the heat of the Middle East, the humidity of the Far East, the cold of the Rocky Mountains, and the salty air, sun, and sand of the Southern California beaches.

Our plastic Chess Pieces are designed with a base that can accommodate up to 7 pounds of sand to add weight to the piece in windy conditions. Most customers find there is no need to add sand, but if you want a heavier piece or are in a very windy area, you may choose to add sand to the base.
