FAQ

Can I use this for snatch-style (kinetic) recovery?

No, this strap is not intended for kinetic recovery. For snatching, check out our Kinetic Ropes instead.

Is this tow strap rated for professional use?

Yes! It’s built to Mil-Spec-grade standards and trusted by contractors, off-roaders, and farmers alike.

What kind of vehicles can it tow?

Everything from compact cars to large pickups, farm equipment, and machinery—just stay within the rated limits.

Why is there minimal stretch?

The low-stretch polyester webbing gives you precise, controlled towing without recoil or bounce.

What strength tow strap do I need?

Always choose a tow strap rated well above the weight of the heaviest vehicle you plan to recover. Our Yankum Tow Strap has a 30,000 lb Minimum Tensile Strength, making it ideal for towing trucks, SUVs, farm equipment, and more. For light passenger cars, this gives you a wide safety margin—and for heavier rigs, it’s the kind of durability you want when things get serious.

What size and length tow strap should I use?

A 3-inch-wide, 20-foot-long tow strap hits the sweet spot for most recoveries. It’s wide enough to handle big loads and long enough to keep a safe distance between vehicles during towing. Our strap is purpose-built with those exact specs to balance strength, reach, and control—whether you're pulling a truck from snow or dragging a log off a trail.

Where do I attach a tow strap on a vehicle?

Never attach a tow strap to a trailer ball or bumper—these can fail catastrophically. Always secure the strap to designated recovery points or frame-mounted tow hooks. We strongly recommend using a soft shackle to connect the strap to rated recovery points, such as D-ring mounts or hitch receivers designed for pulling. If you’re unsure where these are, consult your vehicle’s manual or ask a qualified mechanic.

Where should I hook a tow strap on a car?

Most cars have built-in tow points, often behind a removable plastic panel on the bumper. These are reinforced for towing and are the only safe spot to hook a strap. Never wrap a strap around suspension parts, axles, or control arms—they weren’t designed for that kind of load. Use a soft shackle for a secure, non-damaging connection.

Can I tie a tow strap or loop it around something?

No—never tie knots in a tow strap or loop it around a tow ball or non-rated part. Doing so can weaken the strap or create a deadly projectile under tension. Always use a proper recovery shackle and attach to safe, rated recovery points. Our Yankum Tow Strap is built for towing and simple/light recovery, and it deserves to be used the right way for maximum safety and performance.

Functioned as advertized.
Installed these in my Whalers 96 200 Offshore. No issues, used permatex gasket compound on aluminum engine parts after cleaning with fine brass wire wheel.

Fits 1988 Sea Ray V-135 2 stroke (Mercury)
For those of you with the 135 hp mercury that was branded as the "Sea Ray 135" and paint matched to the boat (i.e. Seville's and some others) this is the 147 degree thermostat for that motor. My Seville is an '88 and It's difficult to cross reference the serial numbers on those motors when searching for parts. Only buy Quicksilver parts for these motors. Happy to find them on Amazon because Boats.net as an example, is not clear on what you're getting.

Not all great stereo systems meet all the requirements for connectivity.
I want to go on record, the Onkyo TX-Nr7100 is an awesome choice for a stereo avr. Great connectivity, a warm sound quality, and many options for your audio sound choices. But, because it's base connectivity, as it applies to Bluetooth, I do not recommend to connecting a PC to it. Due to audio and video, data separation. The Onkyo, though an excellent stereo choice, has problems playing Youtube and other types of media, with built in audio and video playback. It defaults to the miniplayer, built into the system and is impossible to get rid of in these situations. I give this product 5 stars on quality and performance, but it was not made to connect to a computer. Stll, I recommend this AVR Stereo Receiver on its aesthetic look, sound, audio and connections and quality. Very important to keep this in mind for Computer and gaming console connection to this system.
