Designed for exterior wood applications, General Finishes® Exterior 450 Water Based Varnish is a flat topcoat that provides your wood with a tough, protective exterior wood finish that will withstand the rigors of the sun, rain, and wind. Ideal exterior furniture finish, exterior door finish or exterior deck finish, Exterior 450 is fortified with UV absorbers to help minimize fading and maximize performance. Its built-in mildewcide retards mold and mildew growth. Tough and flexible, Exterior 450 will resist the expansion and contraction of the wood through hot summers and cold winters that typically causes cracking and peeling. It also flows well and dries rapidly to a clear finish. It is ready to sand in 1 hour (under ideal conditions) which means you can be done finishing and using your project the same day.

I love this shelf! It took two people to hang it and you definitely want to ensure you hit a stud on at least one side or 1-2 screws if mounting between studs. It is heavy but a single person can lift it, just not maneuver easily due to its dimensions. It has a ton of room and fits mini helmets nicely in my office. Where I mounted it made it difficult to an extent to install but if you are even somewhat handy, you’ll be fine. You absolutely need a stud finder to hang this shelf. Sorry, I’m married! I would buy this shelf, or versions of it, again. Very practical and useful to display autographs, housewares or decor. Last note: do not over tighten the poles. The wood is soft and the poles are light weight. They are not traditional black pipe and weigh far less.
