Where motorcycles should not be using the road, "Buses, Cycles and Taxis Only" allows only buses, cycles and taxis but can have the 'taxi' removed. "Buses, Cycles, Motorcycles and Taxis Only" would be used where taxis are also allowed. The sign can have a supplementary plate which shows a time period, and authorised vehicles or both.

Other signs may be better suited to restrict vehicle access. "No Entry", diagram 616, could be used with exception plates, but can’t be used with a time period. Roads where vehicles other than buses, cycles and taxis are permitted, such as permit holders, for access or loading, can use "No Motor Vehicles". "No Vehicles" with the appropriate exception plates can be used alternative to "No Motor Vehicles" where pedal cycles are permitted. No matter what set of signs you choose is the best for your site, the same sign should be used around the same area.
