A Gentle Introduction for Beginning Adult Lyre Players

Meeting the Lyre is a thoughtful and accessible music book written especially with the beginning adult in mind—making it an ideal resource for homeschooling parents, caregivers, and educators who wish to introduce the lyre to their children while learning the instrument themselves.

Rather than assuming prior musical knowledge, this book gently familiarizes the reader with the lyre as an instrument: how it is held, approached, and played with intention and sensitivity. Clear explanations, practice suggestions, and carefully chosen exercises support confidence and steady progress, making it well suited for self-study as well as guided learning.

Learning Through Movement, Practice, and Listening

Beyond basic technique, Meeting the Lyre explores the relationship between movement and music, encouraging a living, embodied approach to playing. Simple melodies, fingering exercises, and musical gestures help develop coordination, listening, and a natural sense of flow. This holistic approach reflects the lyre’s role not only as a musical instrument, but as a companion to rhythm, gesture, and inner quiet.

Printed in Germany by Choroi and offered here in English, this beginner-friendly book serves as a grounding first step into lyre playing—supporting adults as they build a warm, confident musical foundation to share with the children in their care.

Still going strong after three months of Doberman teeth!
Color: Green
This was one of the first toys I purchased for my adopted 4 year old Doberman Pinscher. It has been chewed, and chewed, and chewed some more. This is one of his 3 favorite toys when he has to go in his crate. As of yet there are no significant teeth marks, holes, or missing pieces. It is solid rubber, light weight compared to a similar toy he has, and just the right size to carry around in his mouth. He seems to enjoy the sensation the little rubber nubs have on his gums when he chews it. We have also used this toy to play tug of war and fetch for the same reasons listed but also because the neon green color is easy to see especially if the dog gets distracted and leaves it in the yard. When playing fetch the weight of the toy does not lead to rotator cuff surgery with repetitive throwing on the part of the dog's human! When it gets too dirty and slimy for my tolerance, it is easily washed in the laundry room sink with dish detergent and a sponge always returning to its Spic n' Span original appearance. If and when he chews this one up, I will not hesitate to replace it. Top 3 Likes: -Sturdy, holds up to chewing, used as a crate toy as it poses no threat from dislodged pieces -Bright color aids in finding it outside -Comparatively lightweight, easy to throw, and easy to clean Top 3 Disikes: -Potentially an aggressive chewer could dismantle Only 1 dislike!

This dog toy is FANTASTIC! I have a pitbull that is a STRONG chewer and not even a piece has come off! This toy has lasted the longest of any dog toy I’ve ever had! I got one and then immediately ordered another one! Highly recommend

Maybe for XL breeds.
Color: Green
This pull toy is too heavy for my 49 lbs Foxhound/Beagle mix. The “beads” are very sharp, and he didn’t want to put it in his mouth to chew on or play tag. I don’t think he’s picked it up since the first time I gave it to him. Extra large dogs may love it, but it was just too large and heavy for my dog. He was very unhappy with it.
