CUSTOM-TUNED FOX SUSPENSION
REAR CENTRE FLIP CHIP
Gen 2’s flip chip increases the rear centre by +10mm from the standard length. Rear center adjustability allows you to customise your bike for your next race, uplift day, or a tight, twisty day at the trail center. Our flip-chip requires no additional hardware to adjust from 'normal' to 'long' settings, thanks to a cleverly designed reversible brake adapter mount.
MIXED WHEEL FLIP CHIP
Having the option to switch between a 29-inch rear wheel and a smaller 27.5-inch rear wheel on your Gen 2 bike is great way to dial in your bike to suit your riding preferences and terrain. Our flip-chip system allows riders to switch between wheel sizes without affecting the geometry or upsetting the balance of your bike.

Bash guards and chain guides can take a beating on the trail, so to avoid any unwanted damage occurring to your 161 frame, we've built replaceable ISCG tabs with a keyed fitment to prevent movement even when ridden under the harshest of conditions.
As the development of Gen 2 kicked off, so did the discussion around adopting a new suspension platform. At the time, we saw a lot of interest in high-pivot, mid-pivot and 6-bar suspension designs. We evaluated each based on what we felt riders wanted from Gen 2 and came to the conclusion that an evolution of the Horst link platform offers the characteristics that we were after. While alternate platforms all have their benefits, Horst link offers highly customisable anti-rise and anti-squat values, enabling us to develop our highest performing kinematics and a consistent and predictable ride. Predictability is key! If you know exactly what to expect from your bike, you'll feel confident, and if you feel confident, you'll ride harder and faster.
Gen 2 bikes each feature the A-L-P Suspension (Aligned Linearly Progressive) platform, a system that has been designed to be super predictable and easy to ride hard.
When designing the suspension of Gen 2, we looked at 3 key areas, how they affect the ride of the bike and how we could design them to offer the predictability that we are after.
A-L-P Suspension offers a low force at the back wheel (a high leverage ratio) at the start of travel. This means it delivers excellent grip at the beginning of the stroke, and less force is transmitted to the rider, minimising fatigue while you're charging hard on trails. The high leverage ratio at the start also easily overcomes stiction in the shock seals for a coil-like feel even with an air shock. We've aimed for a leverage rate as linearly progressive as possible to offer predictability. The progression at the end of the stroke provides plenty of bottom out resistance, so when you're charging hard on unfamiliar trails, the bike will be able to take whatever you throw at it.
We wanted our Privateer 161 to offer a balance of chassis stability and braking traction so you can charge hard and know you can brake late with confidence. We also wanted A-L-P Suspension to behave consistently no matter where it is in the travel, so again, it builds confidence to ride hard, and you can focus on enjoying the terrain.
The A-L-P Suspension platform provides a great balance of pedalling support and traction in all gears so you can always get the power down efficiently. As you get into harder gears, the anti-squat increases, so when you're out of the saddle sprinting, you get the additional pedal support that you need. And again, that consistent anti-squat throughout the travel gives you that predictability that we're all after to ride as fast as we can!

Can I run a coil shock on my Gen 2 161 frame?
Yes, from a kinematic point of view. However we haven’t tried all coil shock designs to see if they will all physically fit. We do know Fox and Ohlins fit.
Can I overstroke my Privateer Gen 2 161 Frame?
The Gen 2 161 comes with a 60mm stroke shock as standard delivering 161mm of travel, however if a 65mm stroke shock is used travel increases to 174mm.
Can I fit a 161 link to a 141?
No, as the 141 and 161 frames are not identical the 161 link will not clear the 141 frame.
Can I use dual crown forks on my gen 2 161 frame?
Yes, Gen 2 Privateer frames are dual crown compatible.
Can I just order the frame set?
Yes, both Gen 2 models will be available as framesets and will include a rear shock, seat collar, ISCG mount, headset, axle and flipchip hardware.
Can I run a 29" rear wheel in a P1?
Yes, all sizes of Gen 2 bike can run either mixed wheels or 29" wheels.
Are the Gen 2 141 and 161 frames the same?
No, while they may look similar the 141 and 161 use different frame designs with different geometry, different suspension rockers and have different levels of travel.
Are all sizes 29"?
All sizes of Gen 2 141 and 161 are compatible with either 29" or mixed wheels. However P1 complete bikes will ship in a mixed wheel configuration. Customers will have the option of purchasing additional rear 29/27.5" wheels at checkout at a discounted price.
Is this bike UDH compatible?
No, during development we felt that Privateer riders would find an adjustable rear centre more suitable for their riding style, and so a decision was made at an early stage to focus on adjustability.
Can I run SRAM Transmission?
No, for the same reason as above.
What is the max tyre width?
Gen 2 bikes have been designed to provide incredible mud clearance when used with 2.5in tyres.
Where can I order spares?
Spare parts will be available through the official Privateer Bikes websites.
Are tyres set up tubeless?
No, complete bikes come with inner tubes, but the wheels are taped and are ready to be set up tubeless.
What is my warranty?
The warranty if 5 years from the date of purchase and is available to the original owner only.
What tool can I fit in the tool mount?
We use a standard bolt pattern for our tool mount, so the only limitation would be the height of the tool. We haven’t tested every tool on the market but Topeak Ninja mount tools fit with plenty of clearance.
Can I run my Gen 2 full 27.5"?
Gen 2 bikes were designed to either be used in full 29" or mixed wheel (29" front, 27.5" rear). While they would fit, we have not tested Gen 2 bikes with 27.5" wheels front and rear.

TLDR product abides by the SCCS's standards, makes my teeth less sensitive, just too expensive

This review is very important for me to write, as researching products for health typically stresses me out immensely when there is conflicting information. Nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste is no exception to this, so if I can save someone some time and stress in this age of overwhelming, conflicting medical information, I will.
I don't use fluoride and was using Tom's toothpaste for a while. My tooth chipped on a mug (second time in my life), and I started stressing about my teeth being "weak." That was when I began researching how to strengthen them, and learned about remineralization and how fluoride helps with that. I learned about Nano-hydroxyapatite (nanoHAP) as an alternative, and essentially that 10% nanohap in the toothpaste was necessary for efficacy. I ordered an affordable (ish) one on Amazon, we'll call it Brand A, and went about my life.
Unfortunately, later on, I learned of concern in the scientific community about nano particles crossing the blood brain barrier, leaking into the bloodstream, and overall just potentially being harmful. I'd already been using the Brand A for 6 months and was afraid of any damage I may have done. I went back to digging.
The FDA has not approved nanoHAP in toothpaste as of now, but I haven't always waited for them to catch up to research to try new things when it comes to my health. In this instance, however, I was definitely looking for someone more knowledgeable than me to guide me, as I was overwhelmed and STRESSED (my health is just one big rollercoaster ride, so I burn out quickly when it comes to health decisions.) Finally, I found that the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety made a decision on the safety of nanoHAP in toothpaste, stating:
"Based on the data provided, the SCCS considers hydroxyapatite (nano) safe when used
at concentrations up to 10% in toothpaste, and up to 0.465% in mouthwash. This safety evaluation only applies to the hydroxyapatite (nano) with the following
characteristics:
- composed of rod-shaped particles of which at least 95.8% (in particle number) have an
aspect ratio less than 3, and the remaining 4.2% have an aspect ratio not exceeding 4.9;
- the particles are not coated or surface modified"
It turns out, Brand A's nanoHAP toothpaste used needle-shaped (not rod-shaped) particles (NOT good.) I was now on a mission to find a safe nanoHAP toothpaste.
In the interim, I switched from the Brand A's nanoHAP toothpaste to Himalaya Botanique's Xylitol toothpaste (no fluoride or nanoHAP.) My teeth and gums became sensitive rather quickly. I was desperate to go back to nanoHAP, but most brands won't disclose the important information in the product pages, or even if you reach out and ask them, i.e. the percentage of nanoHAP (you want 10%), the particle shape (you want rod), etc.
I found Himalaya Botanique's extra strength nanoHAP toothpaste (they have a regular one which doesn't advertise it's % - it's only 2.5%.) I decided to email them and see if they'd answer some questions about the product.
Much to my relief, they responded with this:
"The nano-hydroxyapatite used in Himalaya’s toothpaste complies with the recommendations suggested by the European Union (EU) Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS). Please note, this applies to both the shape of the nHA as well as the aspect ratio as recommended by the EU-SCCS.
Himalaya’s hydroxyapatite particles are currently nanoparticles < 100 nanometers (i.e., 0.100 microns), with a nano-rod shape having a width between 5-20 nm (typically close to 10 nm) and a length below 50 nm (typically between 30 to 40 nm)."
That was good enough for me; I bought it. The sensitivity in my teeth from the xylitol toothpaste went away quickly, so it appears to be effective.
It seems to whiten decently, nothing too drastic. I LOVE that the ingredients are all natural, though. It's minty and refreshing. It's not too thick or runny (took a pic trying to show texture and thickness), and my mouth feels clean after brushing.
My only, ONLY complaint is the price. That's why I'm docking a star. $19 for a single tube of toothpaste almost feels like elitism. I'm stretching that tube as FAR as it will go.

Phenomenal NHa toothpaste

I am fluoride free. It’s toxic AND did you know it oxidizes the tooth from the inside out and actually MAKES your TEETH YELLOW!? Crest even admitted it. Fluorides risks outweigh the teeth benefits but LUCKILY there’s a more superior solution: nano hydroxyapatite for our teeth remineralization needs. It’s safe and proven to be more effective as a remineralizing agent, unlike fluoride which cannot remineralize on its own - it requires the minerals in your saliva to work, so if your saliva isn’t at the optimal levels, it’s useless to teeth. But I have been on a teeth whitening journey - got my teeth whitened at my dentist but I ate a tangerine and they got stained again. (Stupid me. Bye $325!) While I’ve restored the whiteness back with various at home products, it’s been at the expense of my enamel and has caused a lot of sensitivity. Sensodyne was given to me by my dentist but when I saw it visibly yellow my teeth after the dentist’s first bleaching, I went down a rabbit hole to get to the bottom of it as to why. Additionally, my enamel has been getting more and and more clear, and I needed this to be addressed. NHa has been proven to restore enamel which treats tooth sensitivity instead of just numbing the nerves with potassium nitrate like Sensodyne does which treats the symptom and not the cause (tooth demineralization, sigh… such a western medicine move). When I bought this for the first time I was immediately pleased - there’s NO scary flavor (if you’ve ever tried *natural* toothpastes, especially ones of India, You KNOW!). There’s no cardamom or other cinnamon or out of the ordinary flavors here. The consistency is that of normal toothpaste. Great foaming action. Has helped my sensitivity in 2 applications, I’m 100% without sensitivity but even better, my teeth my are less clear. This truly restores enamel.
But, here’s my gripes. #1 - I have no idea how much hydroxyapatite is in this. I know it works, but as a consumer, I deserve to know what % of the star ingredient is used in a product that I’m specifically buying it for.
#2 - the toothpaste color is… lightish yellow. Think a healthy “mucus yellow” - I’m so sorry for the that description, but when I spit up bits of toothpaste in my sink, it looks like boogers. That’s an issue when I’m busy whitening my teeth at home & I’m avoiding eating foods that stain teeth for at least 2 hours after so that my saliva can naturally seal my dental pores that are being blasted open with peroxide. If I brush my teeth after whitening I’m extremely paranoid that I’m pushing YELLOW toothpaste into my porous teeth, and I don’t need to keep driving myself crazy thinking that the NHa is potentially sealing that color in. I also want to be able to put my NHa toothpaste in clean whitening trays to give myself a mineralizing treatment without worrying about it staining my teeth from prolonged/concentrated contact. Mind you - this is very paranoid of me to think, but I’ve spent a lot fixing my teeth bleaching then restaining fiasco, so I’m not taking any chances. While I don’t think it’s yellowing my teeth at all, because of the color, I’ll never think it’s whitening them.
But don’t let this deter you from purchasing. It helps sensitivity after one use, has shown to make my enamel less clear, and has a normal toothpaste consistency and foams up great. I recommend it.
