The durable frame is made of santoprene - a hard rubber-like material. The windows are made of clear polycarbonate. The glass beaker can easily be removed for cleaning and placement in the dishwasher. For those who prefer to hand-wash their Young Press, they don't need to worry as much about knocking the glass beaker against a metal sink. The Young Press' frame also assists in keeping the coffee hot longer while insuring that the body of the press remains cool to the touch and is safe to set on most surfaces.
