The DV Select Kit 3 from Tiffen contains everything you need to get that spectacular outdoor shot or scenic portrait.

A Solid Neutral Density 0.6 (2-stop) Filter from Tiffen has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. It enables the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. An ND filter appears gray and reduces the amount of light reaching either the sensor of a digital camera or the film plane of a traditional film camera.

A Neutral Density filter is used to create some unusual special effects such as capturing the "blur" of the rippling water of a waterfall or the swirling effect of city traffic. Since it allows the use of slower shutter speeds in bright light, it becomes possible to create these special effects that would normally not be possible to capture without the filter. And, since it can also help to control your depth of field, it permits you to shoot at wider apertures. Ultimately, its value is in helping to prevent bright, overly washed out images shot in bright light.

Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Choose the filter strength which adjusts the lighting to stay within the exposure latitude (greatest difference between bright/dark values) which still shows details in both of the digital or film medium in use.

Black ProMist
is part of the Hollywood FX series of filters. The Black Pro-Mist creates moderate image softening and modest-to-strong highlight flare, but without as much of a lightening effect in the shadow areas.

Here's another tool to add to your portrait arsenal. As part of Tiffen's award-winning series of FX filters, the Black Pro-Mist gives you the option to add another dimension to your images.

Part of the difference between a run-of-the-mill photograph and a "great" photograph is the attention to detail - and with the Tiffen Pro-Mist series of filters, you can tweak your images just enough to set them apart from everyone else's. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6 - the filter's clear portion allows 4x more light to pass vs. darkest portion) effectively compensates average bright sky-to-foreground situations, and the soft transition is applicable more often to a scene than the hard transition.

Circular Polarizer
Tiffen's Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings

Neutral Density Filters Have Four Main Uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed ISOs, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Pro Mist Filters

Offers all the benefits of the Pro-Mist filter in a more subtle form
Highlight flares are controlled
Contrast is lowered, but with less lightening of shadows for a more delicate effect
Delicate effect with contained highlight flare
Creates a soft light "pastel" effect

Polarizing Filters

Remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass
Your deep blue sky will become even "bluer"
ColorCore Glass
The ColorCore process allows Tiffen to control the color and density of their filters, and the characteristics of special effects filters with much greater accuracy than typical dyed-in-the-mass filters, which usually exhibit color and density variations. In this way, Tiffen can better control the various densities of their filters and thereby create more exact degrees of filtration

Thorough and careful research but I do disagree on some points
Format: Paperback
Review for 'When Giants Were Upon the Earth". As a Christian Bible reader of many years, I was not sure what I was getting myself into by buying and reading this book. ( I do have other books that are not part of the Bible such as Mr. Godawa mentions for reference.) Mr. Godawa has made careful and thorough research on the subject of the Nephilim which is only briefly mentioned in the Bible. He has broadened my understanding of little known facts about the giants and the pagan beliefs of other cultures. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased that a Hollywood screenwriter would do justice to the teachings of God. I do disagree with him about his ideas about satan - I believe he is an individual spirit being and the leader of the other angels that revolted in Heaven. In the New Testament we note that he is ruler of this world John 12:31, he transforms himself into an angel of light II Cor 11:14 and he is also a roaring lion 1 Peter 5:8. I am not totally finished with this book yet but I am hoping that there is information on Nimrod. I would recommend this book for Christian readers who want Bible information 'fleshed out' and explained and about the sons of God, the Nephilim etc.

What they Didn't Teach You in Sunday School
Format: Paperback
Often when reading through the Bible, whether one does so for religious reasons or not, we miss details in the background. Or we do not take into consideration cultural context while interpreting passages. Sometimes, due to difficulties in translating ancient languages into modern ones, some things are literally lost in translation. In this volume, where Godawa collects material he has previously published into one volume, he examines many of these issues. In particular, he focuses on topics that have long mystified people and been the subject of much conjecture and fictionalization: Nephilim, Watchers and giants. He also takes a close look at verses that may have had supernatural elements inadvertently scrubbed: The strange ariel creatures in 2 Samuel 23:20 translated instead into men, or the demons and goblins of Isaiah 13:21-22 written off as wild animals, etc. Clues to a different ancient world than usually supposed? The only misstep is his adherence to the John Walton ANE interpretation. This is based on superficial interpretation, and worse history (e.g. the whole ANE "dome" interpretation of creation is largely mythical). Walton's books haves done a huge disservice in undermining biblical inerrancy. See Hugh Ross' Rescuing Inerrancy for more on Walton and others who aren't too good at biblical study. There's a lot of food for thought in these pages. For more, see and .

Great supplement to Bible study
Format: Paperback
Stimulating reading for science-minded and biblically minded readers. The author who wrote this book has a lot to say about some of the strange images we read about in the Bible. Giants, flying reptiles, satyrs, fauns, denizens, angels, demons, etc. Once I read this, I began realizing that much of the strange things we see in the world outside the Bible are about as realistic as some of these images mentioned in the Bible. The battle between our minds and our souls carries on.

Informational but not what I expected.
Format: Paperback
The facts as they relate to the bible and some other scripts are good, but it would have been better if they were backed up with scientific facts and Egyptian findings. This would have given a broader and more open-minded big picture. I was disappointed overall.
