The SCX10 has long been the RC platform of choice for scale trail enthusiasts. The Axial 1/10 SCX10 III Builder's Kit 4x4 Rock Crawler takes that proven foundation and adds the latest performance upgrades found on current Axial Ready-to-Run products. This is your starting point for building a rig that won't look like anyone else on the trail.

Kit building is a hobby perfectly suited for Axial enthusiasts, many of whom are passionate about tinkering with and modifying their rigs. There's no better starting point for your custom build than the SCX10 III Builder's Kit. It's a classic crawling platform carrying a wealth of proven Axial quality and innovation.

The Builder's Kit advantages go well beyond the satisfaction of putting together your own rig. The assembly process turns you into an expert on its engineering and a pro at maintenance and repairs. Most importantly, you're able to express your individuality by choosing a body style you like and finishing it however you wish. By adding your personal preference in tires, wheels, body, and electronics, you create a custom crawler inside and out. Compared to buying an RTR rig that comes fully equipped, the kit ensures you won't pay for anything you won't use.

RC crawling segment is shifting toward more performance. Performance means lower center of gravity, strategic weight distribution, and other key elements that lead to a more capable rig in all conditions. The Builder's Kit delivers these upgrades.

The new performance shock towers give you multiple mounting options to tune and optimize your suspension. Mount your shocks vertical for a linear feel or angle them for a progressive feel and lower center of gravity. Going hand in hand with the shock towers, the metal panhard mount is built for durability. It handles the majority of side load in the 3-link front suspension and is designed to work with both straight and portal axles, keeping your suspension triangulated under stress.

Three modular battery trays accommodate 88mm, 100mm, and 112mm length batteries. Each tray accepts battery widths from 35-47mm. All three rubber elastomer hold-downs are included, giving you flexibility for most battery styles in the market.

Boat-Side Sliders feature smooth bottoms to help you slide across rocks. They include screw openings for side-mounted battery trays (AXI231008, sold separately) and two slots for velcro straps if you prefer a lightweight setup with a small pack.

The transmission can be externally locked in standard 4WD, but it also has an optional, servo-actuated DIG feature. The DIG feature lets drivers lock the rear wheels for sharper turns, faster pivots, and better control on difficult terrain. Robust 6mm high-clearance stainless steel links with upgraded rod ends are included, as well as Standard AR45 straight axles. If you prefer portal axles, the LCXU transmission makes it easy to switch with a single gear change.

The kit includes eleven universal body mounts, giving you all the options needed to properly mount whichever body you choose.

AR45 STANDARD AXLES

The kit includes Standard AR45 straight axles that mirror what's found under most full-size off-road vehicles. The LCXU transmission design also makes it easy to switch from standard axles to portals if desired.

LCXU DIG TRANSMISSION

The kit's LCXU transmission can be externally locked in standard 4WD, but also has an optional, servo-actuated dig feature for improved turning and control.

OPTIMIZED SUSPENSION

The suspension features updated 6mm stainless steel links and all-metal pivot balls for off-road durability. The tunable oil-filled shocks have aluminum threaded bodies and a single coilover spring.

SCX10 III STEEL C-CHANNEL CHASSIS

Its one-piece steel C-channel chassis is easy to work on, reduces frame flexing, and increases the precision of suspension movement.

ADJUSTABLE METAL PANHARD MOUNT

The adjustable metal panhard mount resists cracking or bending under stress, especially when paired with heavy-duty tires or strong servos. The mount can be positioned forward or backward to accommodate either a portal or straight axle setup.

ALL-METAL GEARS

In addition to all-metal internal gears for strength and durability, the LCXU transmission also features a full set of ball bearings for a smooth, efficient ride.

THREE BATTERY TRAY OPTIONS

Three different sized battery tray options can fit shorty packs, standard packs, or long packs. Run high-capacity packs for endurance trail runs, or lighter, compact packs for competitive crawling where weight savings matter.

NEW BATTERY MOUNT

A new battery mount on the SCX10 III Builder's kit allows the battery to be positioned in front of the transmission for improved weight distribution and balance.

FULL BALL BEARINGS

Reduced friction and greater efficiency which leads to longer run times and longer component life. The full ball bearings resist wear, so you spend less time wrenching and more time crawling.

6MM SUSPENSION LINKS

Increased Strength & Durability which reduces bending and breaking under stress. Less flex from the 6MM links helps steering response and minimizes unwanted movements-axle steer, torque twist, etc.

OIL-FILLED SHOCKS

Adjustable oil-filled shocks let you fine-tune your SCX10 III Builder's Kit's suspension for maximum traction, stability, and smooth performance across any terrain, while also protecting your rig from hard impacts. Adjust oil viscosity and spring preload to match terrain, weight, and driving style.

ALL-METAL PIVOT BALLS

All pivot points are on stainless steel balls that provide durable, long-lasting performance. The metal pivot balls maintain consistent movement under load, even when the rig is twisted up on rocks.

Destined to Be One of My Favorite Books of the Year

I will openly acknowledge that Lamar Hardwick, the lead pastor of Atlanta's Tri-Cities Church and a pastor with autism, wasn't on my disability theology radar and I wasn't sure what to expect from his upcoming release "How Ableism Fuels Racism: Dismantling the Hierarchy of Bodies in the Church." I was blown away. With "How Ableism Fuels Racism," Hardwick proposes that ableism and the resulting disability discrimination are the root causes of racial bias and injustice in American culture and in the church. Weaving together a tapestry of historical records, biblical interpretation, and disability studies, Hardwick examines how ableism in America led to the creation of images, idols, and institutions that would ultimately fuel both disability and racial discrimination. After engaging in this discussion, Hardwick calls the church into action to address the deeper issues of ableism and offers practical steps to help readers dismantle ableism and racism in both attitude and practice. As an ordained minister and seminary graduate who is also a paraplegic and double amputee, I've long immersed myself in the world of disability theology and long believed that the church embraces the hierarchy of bodies about which Hardwick writes. "How Ableism Fuels Racism" served up a myriad of Aha! moments for me and times when long-held beliefs were finally communicated with clarity. Interestingly, Hardwick even clarified for me what had troubled me with another book I recently read around the issue of "deconstruction." I may have actually shouted out "Yes, that's it!" I've long believed that being accommodated by a church is the ground floor step toward full inclusion. It's far from enough, yet for an institution that fought against the ADA it's often seen as the ultimate gift for those with disabilities. Instead, Hardwick argues that the church should be passionately pursuing those with disabilities and others outside the "typical" hierarchy of bodies." I'm telling you. Brilliant stuff here. I can't stop thinking about it. Precise in its criticism yet also constructive and forward thinking, "How Ableism Fuels Racism" confronts the shameful and shame-filled underbelly of American Christianity and offers a broader and more inclusive vision of God, faith, and church life. How much did I love this book? I'm already reading it again.

great read for those in the church who want to learn more about equality

While this book focuses on ableism and racism, I learned a significant amount about how the church has perpetuated ableism over the years and how the founding fathers of our country used religion and ableism as the initial forms of a caste system. Black bodies were seen as inferior and therefore were able in their minds able to be enslaved. This book is a great read for those in the church who want to learn more about equality and how we as a community and church can do better about falling into the trap that we may be "better than." Lamar Hardwick quoted many different authors and theologians, including one who wrote a book about how Jesus was disabled as a result of the crucifixion. This book is great food for thought and I recommend for those who want to learn more about how they and the church view those seen as different. "Racial slavery in the West began by using disability to make chattel slavery a matter of charity rather than a matter of equality. Defining Africans as mentally inferior and effectively disabled allowed for proslavery advocates to appeal to the Christian ethos of benevolence." "The challenge is that beauty is an abstract concept. Our inability to define beauty without using a deficit model stands in contrast to our fundamental beliefs about how God created us. Our origin begins outside of us. An infinitely holy and wise God who creates with intention and intimacy placed us in the world. Acknowledging God's creative genius challenges us to believe that God does not create anything that is not beautiful in its own way."

A must-read for Christians seeking a more robust & liberating theology
Format: Paperback
This is a powerful book and an important challenge to the status quo in modern U.S. American Christianity (and beyond, I suspect, but I will speak from my own context). I appreciated Hardwick’s illumination of the direct link between ableism and racism, which he explained in a way I had never heard before. I also found his interpretation and application of scripture from a disability theology lens to be insightful. He uses a framework that shows “how ableism in America led to the creation of images, idols, and institutions that perpetuate both disability and racial discrimination.” I’m fairly new to learning about disability theology and found this book to be a helpful, accessible read that challenged some of the core assumptions many of us inherited from our white western evangelical upbringing. Hardwick combines his own life experience as a Black disabled pastor with his thought-provoking engagement with scripture to call Christians to a more just and liberating theology. Disability theology is not simply a means of including disabled folks in the Christian community but is an essential lens through which we will see Jesus, others, and ourselves in a completely new light that is transformative.

Guns and a Christlike God

I heartily give this book 5 stars for being such a rich, balanced mix of real life stories, black-smithing analogy, published statistics, and the unabashed challenge of faithFULLY following Christ who revealed how we were created to be unconditionally loving, self-giving, and forgiving. The sad realities of America, the richest and most powerful nation the world has known, is scarred by the problems of guns AND heart. This intelligent and humble presentation of information is a very helpful expose’ in exploring the intersection of faith and guns in America. I have a bias in that I know (and admire) Mike Martin, am a fan of Shane Claiborne, and am on a journey with Christ which finds much truth and wisdom within the Anabaptist tradition. I would like to counter any critique of this book which insinuates oversimplification and misrepresentation through selective/incomplete methodology. I’m glad this book is “bite-size” to reach its stated, intended audience of just about everyone, of every faith tradition, who is weary of violence. The writers are quite capable of presenting a dreadfully long and robust exploration of the scriptures but wisely chose to hold Jesus, his teaching, and the cross as a focal figure of faith who advocated and lived and died non-violence as God’s nature. I hesitate to put words in their mouths but am sure they would love to expose the full context and textures of the prophetic plowshare visions, and I would welcome it. They might just mention the strong strands of the early church fathers who explicitly read the prophetic telling of God’s/Jesus’ wrath and judgment—not as evidence for a violent, human like God to be feared—but as metaphor for the suffering humanity brings upon itself. Just as Paul rhetorically blasted, early in Romans, God turns us over to our ways to wallow in the consequences (we judge and punish ourselves) as we reject God and that which we were created to be. So, perhaps the authors fail by not pointing to scholarly works which spell out with the detail necessary to fully understand the pacifist’s theology—the list is long—however they successfully create the spirit of a movement for everyone by not getting bogged down with a couple proof-texts (we must study their contexts) which seemingly challenge the ubiquitous teachings and lives of Jesus, the New Testament writers, and the pre-Constantinian church. “Cherry-picking”, though often intended to undermine, is a noble compliment as one studies the hermeneutical method of Jesus who also “cherry-picked” the varied voices of the Hebrew testament to shape his gospel of peace. We all cherry-pick and contexts bend toward OUR contexts, but toward what end—to look like Jesus, peace, and the way of the cross? I highly recommend this book: With faith set aside completely for its well referenced guide in understanding America’s inclination toward violence and the idolatrous place guns, constitutional faith, our entertainment, our historical heroes, and the NRA play in it; and with faith at center whose Jesus discipled a way of heart which carries a cross to establish peace and justice—not a sword/gun. Jesus forgave and loved as the transformative powers which Jesus presented as our way of hope.
