Saturated deep purple with vibrant magenta rim. Bright, glossy and glass staining. Very fresh, youthful and concentrated aromas of mulberries, blackberries and blackcurrant with a brambly undertow. Almost a liqueured, fruit pastille quality. Clean floral top notes round out an attractive package. Lip-smacking, ripe black fruit flavours coat the mouth. There’s a lovely richness to these brightly defined, saturated fruit flavours. Ripe, supple tannins sit in the background and together with the fresh acidity attractively frame the abundant black fruited palate. A clean, fragrant and generously flavoured full bodied red best enjoyed in the full vigour of its youth.

The Jester Malbec is sourced from the winemakers Joe’s Block at the southern end of McLaren Vale, close to the seaside town of Port Willunga. The rich, heavy clay soils and warm summer days produce a more deeply coloured, full flavoured wine with soft, silky tannins. Malbec fruit for the Jester is crushed immediately after delivery to the winery, and the skin and juice mix is then allowed to warm naturally over the coming days. Fermentation is kept cool in order to retain the primary fruit characters in the wine. Matured in older oak barrels for twelve months, the Jester Malbec is fragrant, lifted and aromatic, whilst being full flavoured, with a firm, powerful finish.

The Jester Malbec is a vibrant, juicy and full flavoured wine which displays a number of the characteristics that are unique to the varietal. It is also a wine that captures the soft, silky and seductive tannins which are a distinctive feature of Mitolo wines. Aged in 100% used barrels, a blend of 60% French and 40% French coopered American oak for approximately 12 months.
