The BENU Talisman collection seeks to immerse us in the realm of folklore, myth and legend and share with us elements and tokens that are believed to bring us positive things such as love, luck, protection or money.

Native to southern Africa, the Dream Bean is a climbing vine that is used in many ways by traditional communities with its most notorious effect being the ability to induce lucid dreaming which was believed to enable communication with the spirit world.
Traditionally a shaman or healer would make powder from the seeds which would then be smoked in a pipe before sleep as part of a sacred ceremony, intending to send the user into a deep dreaming state where they could make the connection between the living and spirit realms to seek advice or counsel from their ancestors.

Alternatively the Dream Beans rich, chocolate coloured seeds were seen as good luck charms and worn as amulets or jewellery to protect the wearer or even offer them supernatural powers. Not only representative of this mystical seed in colour, this fountain pen actually contains Dream Bean powder to truly encapsulate the magic and power.
