Kanto SP6HD 6" Universal Desktop Speaker Stands with Cable Management at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The SP6HD is a pair of 6-inch desktop speaker stands from Kanto (Vancouver, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Designed for speakers in the 4 to 7-inch driver range, including the Kanto YU6 and Kanto TUK powered bookshelf speakers, the SP6HD elevates larger desktop speakers closer to seated ear level and provides 30 degrees of top plate rotation for precise toe-in adjustment toward the listening position. Each stand supports up to 30 lb / 13.61 kg and is built from steel with closed-cell foam padding on the top surface to absorb resonance and prevent surface vibrations from introducing coloration into the sound. Two top plate sizes are included per stand for compatibility with a range of 4 to 7-inch speaker cabinet footprints, 1/4"-20 mounting holes in both top plates allow compatible speakers to be secured directly to the stand, and the hollow support column routes cables internally for a clean, organized desktop setup.

Elevated Placement and Top Plate Rotation

Larger bookshelf speakers in the 4 to 7-inch driver class placed directly on a desk surface position the tweeter significantly below seated ear level and place the cabinet in close contact with the desk, which acts as a reflective boundary that reinforces certain bass frequencies and adds coloration absent from the original recording. The SP6HD raises the speaker by 6 inches, bringing the tweeter substantially closer to ear height for a seated desktop listener, and the 30-degree rotation range of the top plate allows each speaker to be angled directly toward the listening position without repositioning the stand base on the desk. This combination of elevated placement and toe-in adjustability is particularly effective with wider-dispersion 4 to 7-inch drivers, where even modest toe-in corrections produce clearly audible improvements in stereo image focus and high-frequency directness at the listening seat. The wider 7 x 8.5-inch base of the SP6HD, compared to the smaller SP9, provides additional stability appropriate for the heavier speaker class the SP6HD is designed to support.

Steel Construction and Resonance Control

The SP6HD is constructed from steel throughout, providing the structural rigidity and inherent mass needed to decouple larger speaker cabinets from the desk surface beneath them. Desktop surfaces are especially prone to acting as sounding boards that resonate sympathetically with the output of larger, more powerful bookshelf speakers, adding a diffuse layer of coloration to the sound that degrades clarity and bass definition. The steel stand interrupts this vibration transfer path, and the closed-cell foam padding on the top plate provides a compliant decoupling layer between the speaker cabinet base and the stand surface. This foam layer absorbs micro-vibrations at the speaker-to-stand interface, reducing resonance transmission and maintaining the accuracy of the desktop audio output. The 1/4"-20 mounting holes in both included top plates allow compatible speakers including the Kanto YU6 and TUK to be secured directly to the stand for a mechanically fixed, rattle-free connection.

Key Features

  • 30-Degree Top Plate Rotation: Each top plate rotates up to 30 degrees, allowing precise speaker toe-in adjustment toward the listening position without moving the stand base, improving stereo imaging and high-frequency directness at the listening seat.
  • Steel Construction: Full steel build provides structural rigidity and inherent mass to decouple the speaker from the desk surface and suppress sympathetic resonance during playback with larger, more powerful bookshelf speakers.
  • Closed-Cell Foam Padding: Foam padding on the top plate surface absorbs micro-vibrations at the speaker-to-stand interface, reducing resonance transmission and protecting cabinet finishes from contact wear.
  • 30 lb / 13.61 kg Load Capacity Per Stand: A high load capacity that comfortably accommodates larger powered bookshelf speakers in the 4 to 7-inch driver class, including the Kanto YU6 and TUK.
  • Dual Top Plate Sizes Included: Two top plate sizes are included per stand to accommodate a range of speaker cabinet footprints within the 4 to 7-inch driver class without requiring additional accessories.
  • 1/4"-20 Mounting Holes: Both top plates feature 1/4"-20 threaded holes, allowing compatible speakers including the Kanto YU6 and TUK to be secured directly to the stand for a fixed, stable connection.
  • Integrated Cable Management: The hollow support column routes speaker wire and power cables internally from base to top, keeping the desk surface free of trailing cables and the setup visually organized.
  • Wide Base Footprint for Stability: The 7 x 8.5-inch base provides a stable platform appropriate for the heavier speaker class the SP6HD supports, reducing the risk of tipping on the desk surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Kanto SP6HD desktop speaker stands?

The Kanto SP6HD are a pair of 6-inch desktop speaker stands built from steel with closed-cell foam top padding, featuring 30 degrees of top plate rotation, dual included top plate sizes, 1/4"-20 mounting holes, and an integrated cable management column. Made by Kanto, a Canadian audio accessories brand based in Vancouver, the SP6HD is designed for speakers in the 4 to 7-inch driver range, with primary compatibility for the Kanto YU6 and TUK powered bookshelf speakers, and supports up to 30 lb / 13.61 kg per stand.

What is the difference between the Kanto SP6HD and the Kanto SP9 desktop stands?

The Kanto SP6HD and SP9 share the same SP-series platform, steel construction, closed-cell foam padding, 30-degree rotation, dual top plates, 1/4"-20 mounting holes, and cable management column, differing primarily in the speaker size class each is designed to support. The SP9 at 8.27 inches tall is optimized for compact 3 to 4-inch driver speakers including the Kanto YU2 and YU4, with a smaller 4.3 x 7-inch base appropriate for those lighter models. The SP6HD at 6 inches tall serves the larger 4 to 7-inch driver class including the Kanto YU6 and TUK, with a wider 7 x 8.5-inch base that provides the additional stability needed for heavier bookshelf speaker cabinets.

How does the Kanto SP6HD compare to the Kanto SE6 for YU6 and TUK owners?

Both the SP6HD and SE6 are compatible with the Kanto YU6 and TUK, but they approach desktop placement differently. The SP6HD provides 30 degrees of horizontal rotation and a taller 6-inch elevation, making it the stronger choice when toe-in adjustability and a higher speaker position are the priorities. The SE6 uses a fixed 6-degree upward tilt and a cantilevered platform design that frees desk space beneath the speaker, prioritizing reflection reduction and desk space recovery over horizontal rotation flexibility. For listeners who need to angle their speakers significantly toward an off-center listening position, the SP6HD rotation mechanism provides a meaningful advantage over the fixed-angle SE6 platform.

Can the Kanto SP6HD be used with speakers other than the Kanto YU6 and TUK?

Yes, the Kanto SP6HD is compatible with any speaker in the 4 to 7-inch driver range whose base footprint fits one of the two included top plate sizes and whose weight does not exceed 30 lb / 13.61 kg per stand. Speakers with a 1/4"-20 threaded hole on the base can be secured directly to the top plate mounting hole for a fixed connection. Powered bookshelf and passive speakers from brands including Audioengine, Edifier, KEF, ELAC, and Klipsch that fall within the size and weight range are generally compatible, though verifying base footprint dimensions against the included top plate sizes before purchasing is recommended.

What does the 30-degree top plate rotation do for desktop listening?

The 30-degree top plate rotation on the SP6HD allows each speaker to be angled horizontally toward the primary listening position on the desk without repositioning the stand base. For desktop near-field listening with larger bookshelf speakers, toe-in adjustment focuses the speaker's primary dispersion axis directly at the listener's ears, sharpening stereo imaging, improving high-frequency presence, and reducing the level of sidewall and monitor arm reflections that reach the listening position. The SP6HD rotation range covers the full practical toe-in range needed for typical desk configurations where speakers sit at the rear corners of the desk and are angled inward toward a centrally seated listener.

Does the Kanto SP6HD protect the desk surface from scratches?

Yes, the steel base of the SP6HD rests on the desk surface through contact points that prevent direct metal-to-desk contact, protecting desk finishes during normal use. The closed-cell foam padding on the top plate similarly protects speaker cabinet bases from contact wear at the stand interface. For the smoothest and most scratch-free experience on premium desk surfaces, placing a thin non-slip mat beneath the stand base is an option some users choose, though the stand base is designed to avoid marking typical desk surface finishes under normal placement and repositioning.

Where can I buy the Kanto SP6HD desktop speaker stands in Toronto or Canada?

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat
