The Explore Scientific 2" Variable Polarizing Filter is for you if…

  • You’re an Astronomy Enthusiast looking for precise control over brightness to observe lunar, planetary, and solar features in incredible detail.
  • You Love Tailoring Your View with accessories but need a versatile filter that integrates seamlessly with other 2" color filters.
  • You Value Eye Comfort and Safety when observing bright celestial bodies like the Sun and Moon, reducing eye strain and ensuring safe observation.
  • You Seek High-Quality Optical Equipment that enhances contrast without compromising on clarity, perfect for capturing the finest details.
  • You Enjoy Flexible Observation Options with a single filter that adapts to a variety of celestial objects and viewing conditions.

Transform your stargazing experience with the Explore Scientific 2" Variable Polarizing Filter, engineered for precision and comfort in every aspect of celestial observation. This filter allows for precise light transmission control, ranging from 40% to a remarkably dim 1%, giving you the freedom to view bright objects, like the Moon and Sun (with an appropriate solar protection filter), without blinding glare or washed-out details. With its easy-to-use rotating mechanism, you can instantly adjust the brightness by simply twisting the two halves of the filter, tailoring the light to your exact preference and eliminating the need for multiple filters.

This filter’s construction from highly parallel optical glass is a game-changer. Unlike lower-grade filters, which often degrade image quality or introduce unwanted color shifts, this glass maintains the natural, true-to-life colors and fine details of every celestial object. The filter's neutral gray tone preserves the authentic hues of planets, stars, and the Moon’s craters, making it ideal for observing color-sensitive features like the Great Red Spot on Jupiter or the subtle color variations on Mars. This is especially important when conducting precise observation or capturing images, where accurate color representation matters.

Built with astronomy professionals and serious hobbyists in mind, the black anodized aluminum housing is both durable and lightweight, designed to withstand frequent handling and changes between telescope setups. Its universal 2" threading allows it to fit securely on virtually any telescope with a 2" eyepiece, and it’s compatible with other color filters, offering a high degree of customization. Stack it with color or specialty filters to fine-tune contrast and hue, creating a perfect setup tailored to specific planets, nebulae, or other deep-sky objects.

This filter is especially valuable when paired with a Herschel wedge or used on large-aperture telescopes, where managing brightness is essential. With its finely tunable light control, it reduces brightness to safe, comfortable levels, allowing you to observe in incredible detail without eye strain. The filter includes a dust cover to protect the optics from scratches and dust, preserving clarity and ensuring that the glass remains pristine for the next use.

Every detail of this filter is designed to make your observation experience safer, clearer, and more immersive. If you’re ready to move beyond basic filters and embrace a tool that provides expert-level control and visual fidelity, the Explore Scientific 2" Variable Polarizing Filter is your solution. It’s more than just a filter—it’s the key to seeing the cosmos as vividly as possible, with precision, clarity, and complete control at your fingertips.

outstanding and highly informative book
Format: Paperback
MAoS - Malware Analysis on Steroids: Fighting Malware to the Death - Real-World Threats and Reverse Engineering Tactics by Uriel Kosayev is an outstanding and highly informative book. This is the second book I’ve read from him, after Antivirus Bypass Techniques, and once again I found the content to be extremely practical, well-structured, and insightful. Uriel has a way of explaining complex malware analysis and reverse engineering concepts in a way that is both approachable and deeply technical. The real-world tactics and examples make it not just a book you read once, but a reference you’ll return to often. Without a doubt, another excellent resource—I’m giving it 5 stars.

Great book on Android malware reverse engineering and detection!
Format: Paperback
This book offers a holistic approach for learning how to deal with malware targeting Android platform. I find this book to be equally interesting to read for both people with little experience in the domain of malware analysis as quick-start guide as well as for experienced reverse engineers who would want to translate their knowledge from malware analysis in other platforms to Android. This book is definitely worth the time reading it. The first half of the book is a great source of information on reverse engineering Android malware. Chapters on categories of Android Malware and examples of the malware in the wild set up the necessary context for the readers and help to better understand why Android malware focuses on certain infection/monetization techniques. It also bring context in the evolution of mitigation and hardening in Android platform. Chapters on static and dynamic analysis are very practical and engaging to read which I probably enjoyed the most in the book. They teach readers how to do reverse engineering of Android malware -- covers tooling, methodologies, hints to look for in the code or binary artifacts when doing reverse engineering. The second half of the book is dedicated to using machine learning techniques for detecting malware. It starts with a concise yet self-contained necessary theoretical background. In my point of view the authors hit a very good balance for making material accurate and comprehensive yet easy to read and follow along for people without extensive background in the field (which is not a trivial thing for math texts). As it is probably impossible to fit all the necessary theoretical material in a single (or even couple of chapters) they text offers references to sources which cover certain topics in-depth -- for those readers who would like to dive deeper in machine learning. Finally, the book wraps with application of the discussed machine learning techniques to certain malware families.
