Fucidin Cream Description
Fucidin cream is a strong antibiotic cream used on the skin to treat infected eczema.
It works by preventing bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus from multiplying.
Apply the cream directly to the areas where your skin is inflamed or you have spots.

What is Fucidin?

Fucidin is a cream applied to the skin to treat infected eczema. It contains fusidic acid, an antibiotic that stops bacteria from spreading. Fusidic acid, the main ingredient in Fucidin, is used to help manage skin conditions with inflammation, such as impetigo, cellulitis, and infected eczema.

Infected eczema happens when bacteria get into already irritated skin, often through cracks or open wounds. Inflamed, itchy skin can make it hard to avoid scratching, which can worsen eczema. Scratching can break the skin, letting bacteria and fungi in. If a bacterial infection develops, you'll likely need treatment with an antibiotic like Fucidin, in addition to managing your eczema.

How does Fucidin work?

Fusidic acid mainly stops bacteria from spreading. It disrupts the bacteria's protein synthesis, which stops them from growing. This supports your immune system in fighting skin infections, helping your skin to heal.

Fucidin is effective for treating staphylococcal infections and is also strong against other gram-positive bacteria. It's intended for use on specific patches of infected eczema, which you can treat with the cream. If your eczema is infected in several areas or in spots that are difficult to reach, you might be advised to take oral antibiotics instead of using a topical cream.

How long does Fucidin take to work?

We can't say exactly how fast Fucidin will work, but creams with fusidic acid can begin to improve your skin in just a few days.

Everyone reacts to treatments in their own way, so the time it takes for infected eczema to clear up can vary from one person to another. You'll be advised on how long to use Fucidin, and it's important to follow your dosage schedule until you notice an improvement in your symptoms.

Signs of an infection can include more itchiness, blisters filled with pus, and skin that feels more swollen or tender than normal. If these symptoms don't get better after using Fucidin for one to two weeks, inform a clinician.

How is Fucidin different from other treatments for eczema?

Unlike oral antibiotics that affect your entire body, Fucidin is applied directly to the specific areas of your skin that are affected.

Atopic eczema, a frequent form of eczema,

It can affect people in different ways. You might have dry, cracked skin in certain areas, or it could be more widespread. This often influences which treatment will work best for you. Smaller patches of skin might respond well to creams like Fucidin or Fucidin H, which has both a steroid and an antibiotic. Alternatively, you might find antiseptic washes like Hibiscrub effective, as they are gentle on irritated skin. This could be a better option if antibiotic creams tend to worsen your itchiness.

If your infected eczema is affecting multiple areas of your body, a clinician may suggest taking an oral antibiotic such as Clarithromycin or Flucloxacillin. These work throughout your entire system, which can sometimes eliminate bacteria faster than creams or ointments, as they don't have to be absorbed through the skin.

How well does Fucidin work for eczema?

Fusidic acid has been used in Europe for more than 40 years to treat infections of the skin, bones, and joints.

It's known as an antistaphylococcal antibiotic. Staphylococcus aureus, often called 'staph', is a type of bacteria that frequently leads to infected eczema.

Bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics in various forms, such as oral tablets, capsules, and liquid suspensions, as well as topical creams. If your eczema is infected due to staph bacteria, Fucidin can specifically target this bacteria, making it an effective treatment option.

Do I need a prescription for Fucidin?

Fucidin is a medicine that you can only get with a prescription. This means a healthcare professional needs to check that it's safe for you to use.

You can buy eczema treatments without a prescription from pharmacies and supermarkets, like Sudocrem and Savlon. These can help calm irritated skin and lessen itchiness. However, they might not be strong enough for infected eczema, in which case something like Fucidin may be required.

Will I get any side effects from using Fucidin?

In addition to fusidic acid, Fucidin contains butylhydroxyanisole, potassium sorbate, and cetyl alcohol. These ingredients might temporarily increase itchiness and inflammation as your skin gets used to the cream.

If the itchiness and inflammation continue, it's a good idea to talk to a clinician about trying a different eczema treatment. These side effects are considered uncommon according to the patient information leaflet that comes with your medication, so you might not experience them.

Other side effects mentioned are conjunctivitis, hives, and skin blistering. However, these are quite rare and typically affect about one in a thousand people.

Fae Courts with High Intrigue
Format: Kindle
This book is one that just builds and builds and then surprises you to no end. You may think you know the villains and then you are jolted in another direction. Princess Reyna is a real gem, strong of character, a fierce fighter, and loyal to her family and kingdom. Just when you think she and Lorcan, well you know, the plot is flipped. Can't wait to see where this goes in book two.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
