Using a spherical cut, this peculiar cutter makes a big difference in the way a bonsai looks as well as its recovery time. When we cut off a branch of a bonsai tree, the scar will appear like a lump on its trunk once it has healed. Cutting a little further in with a knob cutter ensures that the healed trunk will look flat.
In terms of sizes, a big knob cutter will save you some time and it will make a clean cut. A small one is suited to smaller branches and is easier to use to chew away any exposed parts of the main cut.
