300 Years Before Color is a remarkable historical color sample book that reveals how early color systems were explored centuries before modern color printing.
The book presents hundreds of historical color charts and carefully arranged hand-painted color swatches created long before standardized color systems.

It was 1960 when Lawrence Herbert was working in a color printing and sales company mainly focused on cosmetics. This businessman and visionary later acquired the assets of a company that was $50,000 in debt.

In 1962 Herbert founded Pantone, developing a new formula based on 10 pigments in order to obtain more uniform results. This work eventually led to the creation of a guide of 500 standardized colors. The success was immediate among companies dedicated to graphic arts, industrial production and the textile industry.

A well-known example of its usefulness was the Kodak brand. During the 1950s the company began to suffer significant losses because the yellow color of its packaging varied slightly between production runs. Customers sometimes rejected packages with darker shades, believing the film was not original or had expired. Standardized color systems helped solve these inconsistencies across industries.

However, long before modern systems like Pantone existed, artists and scholars were already studying and documenting color through meticulous hand-crafted works. 300 Years Before Color presents a remarkable historical example of this early exploration.

The Gold Butterfly Edition is the sixth limited edition of 300 Years Before Color, following earlier releases such as the Velvet Edition and the Rothko Edition, both now sold out.

The book reveals hundreds of historical color charts and carefully arranged color swatches created centuries before modern color systems.

For artists and designers, the work also functions as an extraordinary historical color swatch book, offering a rare view into early pigment organization and color study.

Through more than 900 pages written and painted entirely by hand, the work preserves an extraordinary record of early pigment studies and color organization.

Today, 300 Years Before Color – Gold Butterfly Deluxe Edition by Galobart Limited Editions stands as a unique historical color reference book, connecting the world of contemporary color systems with the fascinating origins of color study and artistic experimentation.

Better than expected
Color: Stainless Steel, Color: Stainless Steel
I have to say, it has completely transformed my kitchen countertop organization. From the moment I unboxed it, the quality and thoughtfulness of the design were immediately apparent. The stainless steel construction feels extremely sturdy and durable, giving the holder a sleek, modern look that complements any kitchen décor. Unlike lighter, flimsier holders, this one feels solid and well-balanced, thanks to the weighted, non-slip base, which ensures it stays put even when tearing off a single sheet with one hand. The spring-loaded tension arm is an absolute game-changer. I can tear off a paper towel effortlessly with just one hand, which is perfect when I’m cooking, cleaning, or juggling multiple tasks. No more awkward pulling or having to stabilize the roll with my other hand—it makes the process smooth and frustration-free. One of my favorite features is the integrated spray bottle. Having a cleaning solution right on the holder is incredibly convenient. I can quickly grab the paper towel and spray my countertops or stovetop without having to search for a separate bottle, which makes daily cleaning routines much more efficient. The spray bottle is easy to refill, and the design keeps it snug and stable so it doesn’t tip over. Setup was a breeze it came fully assembled, so I could start using it immediately. The overall footprint is compact, so it doesn’t take up much counter space, but it still accommodates standard-sized paper towel rolls comfortably. Even larger rolls fit without any problem, and the holder handles the weight without wobbling. Overall, the Ultrean Paper Towel Holder with Spray Bottle combines functionality, durability, and style in one package. It’s perfect for busy kitchens, whether you’re cooking, cleaning, or entertaining guests. The convenience of one-handed tear, combined with the integrated spray bottle and sturdy base, makes it worth every penny. I’ve found myself reaching for it constantly, and it’s made my kitchen workflow so much smoother. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their kitchen organization while adding a practical and stylish accessory.
