How do I plant my lotus?

Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow container using loam soil. Fill your container 2/3 full with loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover the tuber with an inch or two of soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add 4 inches of water above the soil. Place in full sun outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). 

How and when do I fertilize my lotus plant?

Do not fertilize your lotus until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, fertilize once a month, June through September. We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use.
