Out of print for years, the 30th Anniversary Edition of Manic Compression has been remastered from the original 1995 master tapes by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden and features meticulously reconstructed artwork by Melinda Beck. The Limited-Edition Deluxe LP and hardcover book edition includes a foil-embossed slipcase and a limited two-sided poster print. Limited to a one-time pressing.
If Slip announced Quicksand’s arrival, then Manic Compression proved they were here to stay. Released in 1995, the album builds on the tension and intensity of their debut while pushing the band’s songwriting into sharper, darker, and more dynamic territory.
Opening track “Backward” sets the tone immediately, pairing angular guitars with rhythmic precision. Songs like “Thorn in My Side,” “Landmine Spring,” and “Delusional” balance urgency and restraint, showing Quicksand’s ability to stretch hardcore into entirely new terrain without losing impact.
Manic Compression helped solidify Quicksand’s place in the ’90s alternative and post-hardcore landscape, influencing generations of bands that followed and remaining a touchstone for the genre decades later.
Manic Compression was recorded by Quicksand members Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today), Tom Capone (Beyond, Bold), Sergio Vega (Deftones, Moondog), and Alan Cage (Beyond, Seaweed). Produced by Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Helmet) and Don Fury (Sick of It All, Agnostic Front). Remastered by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor).

The best
Format: Paperback
For my use these are the best travel atlas out there. The recreation map section has details about camp sites, fishing and places of interest. The road map has great detail on smaller roads and info on land ownership, great for boondock camping. If you hunt, fish, camp this is the one you want.

Lottery Book
Format: Paperback
This book contains a lot of opinions without facts. Some are true, some are not. But its a lottery, you cold pick a gold text or a text that is full of buzzwords, without any meaning, fact and useless in real life.

Glad I bought this used
Format: Paperback
It’s packed with buzzwords and adjectives, offering plenty of in-vacuum advice and self-promotional ‘hire-me’ vibes. There’s some real insight here, but it’s buried under a lot of noise.
