Stevens Magic is proud to be able to reprint a classic that will resonate with magicians and their families... Originally illustrated by Tom Lawless, and recently re-illustrated by Magic's own talented performer and illustrator - Joseph Gabriel. The Diary of a Magician's Wife is a one-year diary of living with a magician.
"DON'T MARRY A MAGICIAN," advised the mother of Geraldine Larsen. "They are always up to tricks!" But marry she did, despite maternal advice. The mother of the famous brothers who started the Magic Castle, Milt and Bill Larsen, grew up with a father, Bill Larsen, Sr., who was a lawyer and an amateur magician. When Geraldine took up the art, it is no wonder that magic was in their blood!
Geraldine was not only a magician's wife, but also a puppeteer of note, a writer of magic, and the only lady editor of a magazine devoted wholly to the art of magic. Her publication, "Genii," is still alive and well today and has subscribers all over the world.
She was charming and clever as both a magician and entertainer. Stuart Robson, stage manager for the Ziegfeld follies, said "If he [Ziegfeld] was living, he would recognize her charm and glorify her act in the follies!" As dexterous as she was petite, Geraldine was magic's First Lady at that time. She titled herself Mrs. Lotta Hocus in this book.
Here, "exposed" for the first time (1941), is what magicians' wives or girlfriends must suffer - not always in patient silence. The closely guarded "secret" of what goes on in the mind of the magician's humble helper is revealed at last. (And it is the same today as almost 80 years ago.)
The "effect" of magical effects upon the peace and harmony of the household is conjured up for your entertainment. This book lays bare the heart of the innocent victim of "Watch this, dear." Every wife who has been obliged to suffer in silence while her husband monopolized the guests with his latest "take a card" trick will shed tears with Mrs. Lotta Hocus. Every person who reads this most amusing account of their experiences will find both Mr. and Mrs. Hocus very human and enjoyable.
(This fabulous book will make every magic reader laugh and cry - they will certainly see themselves as they read this incredible diary.)
- This book has NO tricks! NO Secrets! Nothing but the truth!
- You will enjoy the wit and passion that Geraldine put down on paper many years ago!
- You want to be entertained?
- You want to see yourself reflected here?
- You want to laugh?
- READ THE BOOK! Almost 100 pages of the everyday life of a magician's wife!
- Book features 106 pages including many never-before-seen images and photos.
- Mrs. Harry Houdini
Editor's note: (Gerri Larsen was a participant in the world-wide final Houdini Séance in Hollywood, California. October 31st, 1936)
"At last, the magician's wife receives credit!"
- Ann Gwynne - Mrs. Jack Gwynne
"The Diary of a Magician's Wife is greatly needed and has given recognition to the poor assistant!"
- Kathryne Campbell - Mrs. Loring Campbell
"A magician's wife should have many qualifications - the greatest of all, patience. Mrs. Hocus is very typical of all of us wives."
- Mrs. Floyd Thayer
A fun read and a great addition to any magic library!

Great product for a great price
Size: 15.6" 1080P
I REALLY like this. I need 2 screens to do my job efficiently and have struggled lately when traveling. Splurged on this for myself and was really impressed. It’s nice and lightweight but feels sturdy. The image quality is good. The set up could not be easier. This is a game changer for me.

Works pretty well for a cheap monitor
Size: 15.6" 1080P
I work remote and travel, so I miss my multi monitor setup. Not anymore.
I took this on a trip with me and it was great. The stand folded over to not take up too much desk space, the cables wear just long enough, another 6” would have been great but they worked.
Quality of the screen is plenty good enough for office work, I have no gaming or artwork experience with it though.
If you need an inexpensive 2nd monitor , this works great for on the go or even for a regular desk.

Great portable second screen
Size: 15.6" 1080P
Really convenient for a second screen on the go. The display looks sharp and it’s lightweight enough to carry around easily.
Setup is simple, just plug and play. Not super bright, but works well for most uses.

Exceptional - Better than one twice the price
Size: 15.6" 1080P
I bought a different external monitor a few years ago for twice the price and it was abominable compared to this monitor. This monitor is absolutely perfect. The speakers are definitely tinny like others mentioned, so don't expect to DJ a party with this thing, but for work it's perfect since that means voices are clearer anyways. The sound just isn't as full/rounded with proper bass, but it doesn't even matter because there's also a headphone jack on the monitor, too. USB-C is a total game changer for powering and passing full audio-visual in a single port. The included cables are also a big win since getting a spare data USB-C cable can get pricey and I know the one included is guaranteed to work with this monitor. It was literally plug-and-play with my 2023 16" Macbook Pro. I could go on and on about how every detail of this monitor is perfect, like how the stand is also a screen protector cover and how light and easy it is to carry and how the little grippy feet hold it in place confidently, but my point is THIS is FINALLY the external monitor I've been looking for!!!

Great portable display for the price.
Size: 15.6" 1080P
This monitor works very well. I bought because I needed an extra monitor for my iPad on my work desk. But I don’t have an outlet at this desk. The iPad powers the monitor just fine, though it drains the battery pretty quickly. I ended up also buying a 20ft USB-C cable and running that to the nearest outlet to power the monitor and my iPad. I also have a little phone holder standing the display up.
The quality is pretty good for the price point. Definitely not my highest quality screen. It's perfect for spreadsheets and the colors are very passable anyway.
