The most produced American tank of the war, the M4 was the initial version and though it was later modified, it showcased the tank's advantages - it was reliable, easy to maintain, relatively fast and had superior ergonomics. The Sherman was the mainstay of the American army, and the breakout from the Normandy beaches could never been achieved without their support. 

In games of Bolt Action the M4 Sherman is a medium tank with a medium anti-tank gun that benefits from the Improved HE rule, and can be taken in Armoured Platoons.
