Four German Jews, all refugees from Nazi Germany, and all first-rate musicians, arrive in Palestine in the 1930s. There they join a symphony orchestra, which although made up of Europeans serves as a propaganda vehicle for the Zionist state-in-the-making. Unable to express themselves within this melting-pot orchestra, they join together to form The Rosendorf Quartet. In this compelling and provocative novel, awarded Israel's prestigious Bialik Prize for Literature, Nathan Shaham examines the plight of these refugees, who must adjust to the old-new land--a place fraught with political struggle and impending violence.Kurt Rosendorf, the quartet's founder and first violin, would like to believe that his true homeland is music. Forced to leave his Christian wife and daughter in Berlin, he cannot adjust to life in Palestine and tries to live "outside history and geography." Konrad Friedman, second violin, is a young Zionist who constantly battles the urge to renounce the European, cultured life of the musician and dedicate himself to the Jewish cause. Bernard Litovsky, the cellist, is tired of wandering and longs for firm ground and a sense of home. The fourth in the quartet is the stunning Eva Staubenfeld, whose beauty and sexual liberation baffle and mesmerize her colleagues. Relieved to be far from the abuses of her past, she is furious that the accident of being born Jewish has disrupted her life. Uniting the four is Egon Loewenthal, a brilliant and underrated German author who has survived Dachau but cannot forsake the language of his persecutors. He decides that his next novel, written in German, will be about the quartet. The Rosendorf Quartet is not only a deft portrait of the complexities and contradictions that have gone to make up the state of Israel; it is also a stunning tribute to the curative powers of music, in whose realm dissonance, politics, and personal anguish dissolve into art, transcending human conflict and national boundaries

Bully approved
If he wants something to gnaw on he will sit with it but he doesn't really play with it. Which is probably the point. It's lasted. The ends are the most chewed. Overall great for a chewer!

Surprisingly Durable
Color: Green
Our dog is an aggressive chewer. She has destroyed other toys meant for "aggressive chewers" in less that 6 hours. This toy has lasted 17 days and it's still going. It does have areas were the seam has given way and a very small amount of stuffing has come out. She has "killed" the squeaker. But the toy is still usable. We just played Tug of War this morning. It will not last forever. It is showing it's "age". But the durability is there. I am ordering more.

Durability and lasting period of toy.
Color: Green
I got this toy for our bulldog. He had a hole in it, which will only progress, within minutes. I took it away until I could find out if there is any kind of warranty. The information says this toy is not for aggressive chewers, yet right in the description and the photo of the toy (that way I knew I was looking at the correct toy), it says for the "aggressive chewer". I am disappointed that even though it isn't how they described, it only lasted minutes before there was damage. Not sure if I would buy another product.

Excellent toy for active dogs! Five ⭐️
Color: Green
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Toy for Active Dogs!
This is my second time purchasing this toy, and it absolutely deserves five stars. My youngest dog, Captain, is a very active 3-year-old with more energy than I can keep up with. He loves being able to sink his teeth into this squeaky toy, and it helps keep him mentally stimulated and entertained.
What I love most is that he also shares it with his older brother, Kane. They use it for tug-of-war, which helps burn off some of Captain’s endless energy and keeps both dogs engaged. It does a great job reducing boredom, especially for highly active dogs.
The first one lasted several months before needing replacement, which is impressive considering how much it was used. If you have energetic dogs that need something durable and fun, I highly recommend this toy!
