Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens

Overview:

The Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens is a versatile wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras. Combining a fast f/1.8 aperture with macro capabilities, this lens excels in a variety of shooting scenarios, including close-up photography, low-light conditions, and everyday wide-angle shots. Its compact size, image stabilization, and excellent optical performance make it a valuable addition to any photographer’s kit.

Detailed Key Features:

  • Wide-Angle Focal Length: The 35mm focal length offers a slightly wider perspective than standard, making it ideal for a range of photographic styles including street, environmental portraits, and landscape photography. It provides a natural field of view that is versatile for various compositions.

  • Fast f/1.8 Aperture: The lens features a maximum aperture of f/1.8, which allows for effective low-light performance and creative control over depth of field. This wide aperture helps achieve a shallow depth of field, producing pleasing background blur (bokeh) and isolating your subject from the background.

  • Macro Capabilities: The RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens offers true macro performance with a minimum focusing distance of 17cm (6.7 inches) and a 0.5x magnification ratio. This enables detailed close-up shots of small subjects, capturing intricate textures and fine details with clarity.

  • Optical Image Stabilization (IS): The lens incorporates Optical Image Stabilization, which helps to reduce camera shake and blur, particularly useful when shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds or during macro photography. This feature enhances image sharpness and stability, ensuring clearer and more precise shots.

  • Stepping Motor (STM) Autofocus: The lens uses Canon’s Stepping Motor (STM) technology for smooth, quiet, and precise autofocus. This is especially advantageous for video recording, where silent and accurate focusing is crucial, as well as for still photography where quick and reliable focusing is needed.

  • Compact and Lightweight Design: Designed to be compact and lightweight, the RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM is easy to carry and handle. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for travel and everyday photography, offering great portability without compromising on performance.

  • Advanced Optical Design: The lens features high-quality optical elements that minimize chromatic aberrations and distortions. This advanced design delivers sharp, high-contrast images with good color accuracy, even when shooting at close distances.

  • Customizable Control Ring: The lens includes a customizable control ring that allows for direct adjustment of settings such as aperture, ISO, or shutter speed. This adds convenience and enhances your shooting experience by enabling quick adjustments without needing to navigate through camera menus.

  • Circular Aperture: The lens features a 9-blade circular aperture, contributing to aesthetically pleasing bokeh and enhancing the quality of out-of-focus areas in your images.

Summary:

The Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens is a versatile and high-performing wide-angle prime lens that combines a fast f/1.8 aperture with macro capabilities. Its compact design, optical image stabilization, and Stepping Motor (STM) autofocus make it suitable for a variety of photographic applications, from close-up macro shots to everyday wide-angle photography. With its advanced optical design, customizable control ring, and excellent low-light performance, this lens offers both creative flexibility and practical performance, making it a valuable addition to any Canon RF-mount mirrorless camera system.

Versatile, comfortable and a delight to wear
Size: 10.5 Wide, Color: Army Green
Had never heard of this brand but needed a pair of waterproof boots for a trip to the PNW where we would hike in mountains, rainforest and beaches. I have a pair of Merrell Moab hiking shoes, but wanted something that covered more and were waterproof. These boots are amazing. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I own. I wore them everywhere and found I preferred them over other shoes throughout the trip. They stayed comfortable and dry no matter where we went, rivers, lakes or the ocean. I’ve now worn them on several trips including a March trip to Bryce Canyon where we went from snow on some trails to the heat of the red rocks in others. I love these boots more every time I wear them. I am a huge fan now. At the price they are a nobrainer. I would buy these Nortiv8 boots over and over again.

Good value for a $55 boot.
Size: 12, Color: Army Green
I like these boots because I have a wide foot and even though I bought the 12 and NOT the 12W there is plenty of width. Very comfortable boot. I have put this pair through about 1000 miles mostly on asphalt, ice and snow. Very little actual dirt/ rocky trails. I bought them for the waterproofness and ankle support. Now the soles are getting thin and I can feel small rocks through the soles. Plus the soles are beginning to separate from the uppers and they are no longer waterproof. Not bad for 1000 miles. Still, I feel For a $55 boot they are a good value. I am 6ft and weigh 250.

Worth Every Penny!
Size: 9, Color: Coyote
I absolutely love these boots! They are super light, comfortable and definitely waterproof. I took them on a camping trip for the weekend and I walked through creeks and puddles with no issues at all. No water got inside and they were comfortable all weekend. The only thing was the tongue did start to bother me a bit after the 3rd day. I have some pretty boney shins but a small cloth between my shins and the tongue helped a lot.
