Is this for you?

✔️ Good if:

  • You want a unique centrepiece fish with individual markings.
  • You enjoy planted or Amazon-style aquariums.
  • You have a peaceful community aquarium with compatible tank mates.
  • You'd like to raise juvenile Angelfish as they mature.

❌ Avoid if:

  • Your aquarium is smaller than 150 litres.
  • You keep aggressive or fin-nipping fish.
  • You keep tiny fish that may become food as the Angelfish grows.
  • You want a species that remains small.

Why this livestock?

Marble Angelfish are one of the most popular colour varieties of Pterophyllum scalare, admired for their dramatic marbled patterns of black, silver and white. No two fish are identical, making each one a unique addition to your aquarium.

These 4–5cm juveniles have plenty of growing ahead of them and will gradually develop taller fins, stronger colours and more defined marbling as they mature.

With their graceful swimming behaviour and inquisitive personality, Marble Angelfish make an excellent feature fish for planted aquariums and peaceful community setups.

Common mistakes

  • Keeping Angelfish in aquariums that are too small.
  • Housing them with fin-nipping species.
  • Introducing them to tanks with poor water quality.
  • Expecting juvenile fish to immediately form breeding pairs.
  • Overcrowding the aquarium as the fish mature.

Care made simple

  • Temperature: 24–28°C
  • pH: 6.5–7.8
  • Diet: Omnivore – quality pellets, flakes, frozen and live foods
  • Water: Clean, stable freshwater with regular water changes
  • Setup: Tall planted aquarium with driftwood and open swimming space

Pair with

  • Premium Tropical Fish Pellets
  • Frozen Bloodworms
  • Frozen Brine Shrimp
  • Amazon Sword Plants
  • Driftwood & Natural Botanicals
NTA Insight:
Marble Angelfish often become even more striking as they mature, with their marbling becoming richer and more defined. Raising juveniles lets you enjoy watching their colours and personalities develop over time.

FAQ

How large do Marble Angelfish grow?

Adult Marble Angelfish typically reach around 10–15cm in body length and can exceed 20cm in total height when their fins are fully developed.

Are Marble Angelfish suitable for beginners?

Yes. They are a hardy and rewarding species provided they are kept in a suitably sized aquarium with stable water quality.

Can Marble Angelfish live in a community aquarium?

Yes. They are best kept with peaceful fish of similar size. Avoid fin-nipping species and very small fish that may be viewed as food once the Angelfish mature.

Why do livestock prices sometimes change?

Unlike manufactured products, fish and shrimp continue to grow and develop over time. Their value changes as they increase in size, develop colour, or become breeding pairs.

Our prices are based on the current size, quality and availability of each specimen. While pricing often remains stable for around 3–4 months, it may be updated at any time to reflect these changes.

We always aim to offer healthy, high-quality livestock at fair and competitive prices.

Will I receive the exact fish pictured?

No. Photos are representative only. Every Marble Angelfish has unique markings and colour patterns, so your fish may differ slightly from the images shown.

Good for a laugh at least and a messy kitchen
Color: black
While design, quality, and ease of cleaning are great!! These are not for highly food motivated dogs and puppies. My senior dog (100lbs) took a couple licks, he immediately proceeded to pick it up as one unit and carry it to his bed where immediately tore it apart to get to the good stuff. ~ I will say that it is durable and did not fall apart as he carried it. My 7mo old puppy (60lbs) was intrigued and quickly impatient and was able to flip it over and while this only made a little pumpkiny mess, what he did next was hysterical! He picked it up on the edge and threw up in the air and the mess surprised even him but only for a moment. He promptly did it again and on the third time he was able to break the top loose from the bottom and quickly cleaned up the toy and the mess on my kitchen floor and cupboards. Fair warning for those with energetically food motivated labs!! These have since been donated to local shelter with the same warning.

Great for dogs
Color: blue
My dog is obsessed with this! I put plain yogurt thinned with homemade broth in it and he’s entertained for a good 15 minutes, as well as being fairly calm afterward.

Great bowl, would love this in a larger size
Color: blue
This is a great way to treat your dog! I filled it with a bit of plain yogurt drink diluted with water, and my dog absolutely loved it. It only took him about 3-5 minutes to finish it, but he’s about 60lbs, so maybe a bigger size bowl would be better for him. Max capacity of this one is 190 ml. You do have to monitor your dog with this bowl - mine tried to dismantle the bowl when it was empty, trying to get more out of it. Overall I think it’s a fun way to get your dog to drink a little bit more with diluted yogurt, broth, etc.

My dog loves it!
Color: black
Kudos to whomever created this! I have a super attached (med) dog that follows me from room to room alllll day. The first time I put this down he went right for it and didn’t even notice i had left the deck. He is very food driven. I used bone broth and pumpkin puree, which was a hit but once I used the apple sauce… HUGE hit. My only complaint is that it doesn’t come in an XL size. My dog can empty it in under 3 minutes..so he doesn’t get relaxed or sleepy! it does splash out a bit from the top so I use it on his food mat or outside..my sister can’t stand the noise the ball makes. I wasn’t diluting enough so the ball doesn’t move smoothly in the video, but it really does work! The cover is very well made and sturdy. I didn’t notice it sliding around at all. My dog also did not try to get the ball out (loves to tear apart toys) or tip it over, but I could see that happening. I wouldn’t use unsupervised unless you have a small dog. Please make a larger size!!!!

Works but the bowl is wacky
Color: blue, Color: blue
This slow feeder is actually a very good idea and my dog likes it. I blend plain, unsweetened yogurt with a little powdered pumpkin & apple pectin and thin it down with water so the roller ball can easily rotate. It's sturdy and it doesn't slip on the floor, which is good. However, I give it only three stars because the bowl inside is a ridiculous design. Instead of the inside surface being a gently sloping, smooth surface, the "legs" underneath protrude up through the inside (see photo). It makes stirring and cleanup much more difficult than it needs to be. Presumably, it's made using injection molding so it should be easy to design it with a smooth finish.
