This is the only 4-piece Damascus chef knife set at JW Steel Crafts with teal blue resin handles and silver bolsters in a Gyuto-to-paring configuration.

The History Behind This Blade

The four-knife Japanese kitchen setup — gyuto, utility, petty, and paring became the global standard for professional prep work in the mid-20th century when Japanese blade geometry entered Western professional kitchens. Each knife handled one tier of cutting precision, from full board work on the gyuto down to close-hand work on the paring knife. Damascus steel brought layered pattern-welded strength into that four-knife format, combining Japanese blade discipline with Middle Eastern forging tradition. The JW Steel Crafts teal blue resin set carries that same four-knife precision system in every forged blade.

What Is Inside the Set

  • 8-Inch Gyuto: Primary slicing, chopping, and full board prep tasks, largest knife in the set

  • 6-Inch Utility Knife: Mid-size trimming, portioning, and general prep tasks

  • 5-Inch Petty Knife: Precision slicing, detail trimming, and close control cutting

  • 4-Inch Paring Knife: Peeling, fine detail work, and close hand cutting tasks, smallest knife in the set

Four knives. Four distinct precision tiers. Every daily kitchen task covered from full board work to close-hand prep.

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel in a wave pattern finish. The layering process builds consistent edge retention and cutting strength through repeated daily kitchen use. The wave pattern forms naturally during forging — no two blades carry an identical surface finish. Each blade is heat treated for long-term edge retention through daily prep work without frequent sharpening. Full tang construction runs through every teal blue resin handle and spreads weight evenly from blade tip to handle base for stable and controlled cutting across all four knives.

Handle Construction

Every handle is shaped from teal blue marbled resin. The blue marbled swirl pattern runs through the full depth of the resin material — it does not fade, chip, or peel through daily kitchen use. Resin does not absorb moisture, does not swell or crack, and holds its surface finish through heavy prep and wet kitchen conditions equally well. Silver bolsters sit between each blade and handle, adding front-end weight for better cutting balance and protecting fingers from sliding onto the blade during heavy chopping tasks. Silver pins lock every handle firmly to the full tang for long-term structural reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this set different from other Damascus kitchen sets at JW Steel Crafts?

This is the only 4-piece Damascus set in the store with teal blue resin handles and silver bolsters in a Gyuto, utility, petty, and paring configuration.

What is the difference between a Gyuto and a standard chef knife?

A Gyuto has a thinner blade with a longer tip curve — built for cleaner slicing passes through proteins and vegetables than a heavier Western chef knife profile.

What is a petty knife used for?

The petty knife handles precision slicing and detail trimming tasks that are too fine for the utility knife but larger than close-hand paring work.

Does Damascus steel require special care?

Hand wash and dry immediately after every use. Apply food-safe mineral oil to the blades occasionally. Never put Damascus knives in a dishwasher.

Are all four knives full tang?

Yes. The tang runs the full length of every teal blue resin handle for strength, balance, and long-term durability across all four knives.

Is this set suitable as a gift?

Yes. The matched teal blue resin handles, wave-pattern Damascus blades, and silver bolsters make this a strong gift for home cooks, chefs, and Damascus knife collectors.

Can I buy individual knives from this set?

Contact JW Steel Crafts before ordering to ask about individual knife availability from this configuration.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
