New MQ04 HDD Series model delivers 1TB capacity for portable PCs, game systems and other client storage applicationsTOKYO—Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation today announced its new MQ04 Series 1TB[1] HDD, designed for applications that require high capacity, highly durable storage, including notebook PCs, game systems, all-in-one slim-line desktop systems and set-top box appliances. Shipments of the MQ04 1TB model start today, with general availability.
The MQ04 Series single-disk model offers the storage industry’s largest capacity[2] per disk for a 2.5-inch HDD, and delivers 1TB of data storage capacity in an ultra-compact 2.5-inch form factor only 7mm high. With a 6 Gbit/s SATA interface[3], 5,400 rotational speed and a large 128MiB[4] buffer, the new drive is engineered for consistent seek and transfer rate performance, and improves sustained transfer rate performance by 34 percent over the previous 1TB MQ01 generation model. It is expected to meet strong market demand in the client HDD market for high performance, large capacity storage for applications such as notebook PCs, and for recording high resolution images and data.
Toshiba Group positions HDD as a focus business area within its storage business. By enhancing its line-up, Toshiba aims to further enhance solutions for applications ranging from notebook PCs to data centers and high reliability products in both the enterprise and consumer markets, and to ensure that it is uniquely positioned to meet demand across the entire range of customer needs.

Good for my collection.
Format: Hardcover
This was another quick and entertaining read. This instalment wasn't as enjoyable as some of the other books but it was still good. I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Arrakis Brought to Life: A Stunning Visual Gateway into Dune
Format: Hardcover
‘Dune: The Graphic Novel, Book One’ is an outstanding adaptation that captures the scale, tension, and atmosphere of Frank Herbert’s original novel while making the world of Arrakis far easier to visualize. The artwork does an exceptional job translating Herbert’s dense descriptions into vivid imagery—ornithopters slicing through the desert sky, the oppressive vastness of the sands, and the stark contrast between House Atreides and House Harkonnen all feel instantly real and immersive.
What really shines is how the graphic format clarifies complex scenes and political dynamics without oversimplifying them. Key moments that can be challenging to picture in the prose novel become immediately understandable, helping readers grasp both the physical environment and the emotional weight of the story. Paul’s journey, the looming threat on Arrakis, and the undercurrent of destiny are all conveyed with clarity and restraint.
This is an ideal companion for longtime fans who want a richer visual grounding of the story, as well as for newcomers who may find the original novel intimidating. Faithful, beautifully illustrated, and thoughtfully paced, ‘Dune: The Graphic Novel, Book One’ enhances the experience of Herbert’s masterpiece rather than replacing it and it leaves you eager for the next volume.

A good rendering of the source material.
Format: Hardcover
I was fifteen the first time I read Frank Herbert’s classic, Dune. I was immediately swept away to his universe, and my imagination was immediately fed! Oh, what a diet of sight, sound, color, emotion, politics, warfare, and religion he fed me! The movie of this book (before there was one) unraveled in my mind, and I ingested every moment. It was such a delicious experience that I decided right then and there that I would revisit this wonderful place.
Since that moment in 1981, there have been two movies, a miniseries, a graphic novel, and various other stories, as well as Frank Herbert’s son continuing the series with science Fiction author, Kevin J. Anderson. All of which is good. Please note I said good. With the exception of the continuing series by Herbert and Anderson, the images provided have not really lived up to what my imagination conjured up so long ago (and even now, since I am giving the original a re-read.), but that is not a knock against this book.
Dune: The Graphic Novel is a lovely work of art. The art in it is simple, yet beautiful. Each page was deliciously drawn and colored and added to what my imagination conjured up. The pages are thick in this book, which made me feel like I was skipping ahead, but in reality, I wasn’t. A major plus for this book is that it brought back all of those feeling from when I first read Frank Herbert’s novel.
I am looking forward to getting my hands on volume 2. It is on several wish lists, and my wife knows what a Dune fan I am.
All in all I give this book 4.5 bookmarks out of 5!
