Traveling from East to West over thousands of years, tea has played a variety of roles on the world scene - in medicine, politics, the arts, culture, and religion. Behind this most serene of beverages, idolized by poets and revered in spiritual practices, lie stories of treachery, violence, smuggling, drug trade, international espionage, slavery, and revolution.
"Liquid Jade"'s rich narrative history explores tea in all its social and cultural aspects. Entertaining yet informative and extensively researched, "Liquid Jade" tells the story of western greed and eastern bliss. China first used tea as a remedy. Taoists celebrated tea as the elixir of immortality. Buddhist Japan developed a whole body of practices around tea as a spiritual path. Then came the traumatic encounter of the refined Eastern cultures with the first Western merchants, the trade wars, the emergence of the ubiquitous English East India Company. Scottish spies crisscrossed China to steal the secrets of tea production. An army of smugglers made fortunes with tea deliveries in the dead of night. In the name of "free trade" the English imported opium to China in exchange for tea. The exploding tea industry in the eighteenth century reinforced the practice of slavery in the sugar plantations. And one of the reasons why tea became popular in the first place is that it helped sober up the English, who were virtually drowning in alcohol. During the nineteenth century, the massive consumption of tea in England also led to the development of the large tea plantation system in colonial India - a story of success for British Empire tea and of untold misery for generations of tea workers.
"Liquid Jade" also depicts tea's beauty and delights, not only with myths about the beginnings of tea or the lovers' legend in the familiar blue-and-white porcelain willow pattern, but also with a rich and varied selection of works of art and historical photographs, which form a rare and comprehensive visual tea record. The book includes engaging and lesser-known topics, including the exclusion of women from seventeenth-century tea houses or the importance of water for tea, and answers such questions as: "What does a tea taster do?" "How much caffeine is there in tea?" "What is fair trade tea?" and "What is the difference between black, red, yellow, green, or white tea?"
Connecting past and present and spanning five thousand years, Beatrice Hohenegger's captivating and multilayered account of tea will enhance the experience of a steaming "cuppa" for tea lovers the world over.

I'll stick to Rain Design
Color: Space Gray, Size: mStand, Style: mStand
There are a lot of laptop stands out there and call me a loyalist since I bought my first Rain mStand over 10 years ago but I came back to Rain for my second one after giving the original one to my kid for college. I purchased the Space Gray version to match my current Macbook Pro color. It's still a handsome, well-crafted non-nonsense design. It's great that Rain didn't change the design much from the original one I had. It works well with padding in just the right places, and it's timeless design is a complement to any room decor. Go with Rain.

Simple, hefty configurable small tray
Color: Black, Color: Black
"Hefty" is not an expected description for a drawer organizer. But it is in this case because of the solid metal plate it's made from. You could brain a zombie with this tray and not dent it (the tray... the zombie's the one that would be dented). Guess the material choice does make sense since the two wooden dividers uses magnets to hold positions. A strong bump would be needed to shift the placed dividers. You get some basic configuration choices from the dividers. Including additional (different length) dividers would allow further sectioning options would have been nice. It also looks good too. Like the design and utility. Would also go for a bigger version. Perhaps that one, like this, would have secondary uses... perhaps as armor plating?

Elegant and easy to customize to organize your desk
Color: Black, Color: Black
This desk organizer was higher quality and more elegant looking than I thought it would be, so I decided to use it to hold some things on my dresser. It’s too pretty to hide away in my drawer. The compartments snap into place with magents so you can adjust based on how you want to organize your items. The tray itself is heavy, durable, and well-made. The compartments and edges seem to be authentic wood, and the base surface of the tray is a rubber-like surface that keeps things from slipping while still looking very nice. I like this tray enough to put it on display as a part of my home decor. It’s not only useful for organizing some odds and ends, but is also very beautiful and well made.

Stylish Aesthetic with Functional Limitations
Color: Black
This desk organizer offers a sophisticated look that complements modern furniture and decor quite well. The combination of aluminum and walnut creates a professional appearance that effectively tidies up a workspace or nightstand. I particularly appreciate the soft-touch base, which provides a safe surface for delicate items like phone screens or watches, ensuring they remain free of scratches. Additionally, the materials are very easy to wipe down and maintain. However, the build quality does not entirely justify the premium price point. The aluminum components feel more like thin, shaped sheet metal rather than a solid, high-end material. While the walnut accents are a nice touch, they lack the weight and substance I expected for a valet tray in this category. The primary functional drawback lies in the magnetic adjustment system. The magnets are relatively weak, meaning that accidentally bumping a divider while reaching for an item can easily shift the layout. This requires frequent readjustments, which can be frustrating during a busy workday. Furthermore, the magnetic rails can interfere with other metallic or magnetic objects you might try to store. If you are looking for a purely aesthetic upgrade to organize lightweight items, this tray serves that purpose, but it falls short in terms of stability and material density.

Love the customizable dividers
Color: Black, Color: Black
I really like this desk drawer organizer tray. It comes with two removable adjustable dividers that are magnetic. They have a strong magnetic pull and stay in place and do not move or shift at all. I love the overall look of it. It’s very sophisticated looking. It can be suitable for a man or a woman. If it’s into my drawer perfectly and I love the smooth modern design of it.
