Unleash rapid, reliable interconnectivity in data centers and enterprise racks with the Extreme Networks 25G Passive DAC SFP28 0.5m. This high-performance Direct Attach Cable (DAC) uses SFP28 connectors to deliver a pristine 25 Gbps link over a compact 0.5-meter (1.64 feet) copper cable, specifically designed for short-range, intra-rack and rack-to-rack interoperability. Built for speed, low latency, and dependable throughput, this cable is ideal for top-of-rack to spine or switch-to-server connections where quick deployment and cost efficiency matter most. If you need a robust, hot-pluggable, plug-and-play solution to maximize your 25G Ethernet deployments without the overhead of optical transceivers, the Extreme Networks 25G Passive DAC SFP28 0.5m is the right choice.

  • High-speed 25 Gbps performance: Engineered to deliver consistent 25 Gbps data transfer rates over a short copper link, ensuring fast and predictable network performance for latency-sensitive workloads.
  • Compact 0.5-meter length: Perfect for tight rack environments, close-proximity interconnects, and top-of-rack to switch connections where space is at a premium.
  • SFP28 connectors on both ends: Wide compatibility with Extreme Networks switches, servers, and other SFP28-enabled devices, enabling seamless integration into existing infrastructure.
  • Passive copper DAC design: No active electronics or power draw, providing low latency, reduced heat, and a cost-effective alternative to active optical cables for short-range links.
  • Durable, plug-and-play reliability: Built for data center life with robust shielding, secure mating, and straightforward installation to minimize downtime and maintenance.

How to install Extreme Networks 25G Passive DAC SFP28 0.5m

  • Power down and prepare: Follow your data center’s downtime policy. Ensure both devices have available SFP28 ports and are not powered when you begin handling ports and connectors.
  • Inspect connectors: Verify that both SFP28 connectors are clean and free of debris. Do not attempt to force the cable into the ports; alignment should be smooth and gentle.
  • Align and insert: Hold the cable by the body and align each SFP28 end with its corresponding port. Insert straight until you feel a subtle click or secure seating.
  • Verify link readiness: Power on the devices and check the status LEDs on the network ports. A steady link light and negotiated speed indicate a successful connection at 25 Gbps.
  • Test and document: Run a quick throughput or data integrity test to confirm performance. Document the cable’s position in your inventory for future maintenance or upgrades.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a 25G Passive DAC SFP28 0.5m used for? It is a short-range, high-speed copper interconnect designed to connect SFP28-enabled devices within a data center or enterprise rack, delivering 25 Gbps without the need for optics or external power.
  • What does “passive” mean in this context? A passive DAC cable contains no active electronics or powered components. It relies on the physical copper channel and device transceivers to transmit data, offering lower power consumption and reduced heat compared to active optical solutions.
  • Is 0.5 meters long enough for typical rack deployments? Yes. The 0.5-meter length is ideal for close-proximity interconnects, such as top-of-rack to spine or switch-to-server connections, where distance is limited and performance is critical.
  • Are SFP28 DAC cables universally compatible? SFP28 DACs follow the SFP28 MSA standard, which supports broad compatibility with many 25G-capable devices, including Extreme Networks switches and other SFP28-enabled equipment.
  • How does this compare to optical cables? DAC cables provide lower latency, simpler installation, and lower cost for short links. They are typically preferred for intra-rack connections where the distance is short and the need for rapid deployment is high.

Very powerful and effective means of pre-evangelism. A very concise relevant tool in understanding what is presuppositional apologetics at best.

Great intro to for those who feel drawn to apologetics
Format: Kindle
James Sire has been a wonderful companion to many Christians who are called to use their intellect. I have been a fan of his ever since his book Scripture Twisting. Sire provides a great service to the Christian community first by identifying the many ways in which we engage in defense of the faith. We tend to think of great speakers in front of skeptical audiences, but there are many other ways in which apologetics is useful and necessary, such as when we are speaking to friends. Any time we are responding to their objections to Christianity, we can do so in a winsome and knowledgeable manner, even if we aren't an intellectual giant like Sire. Second, Sire identifies that types of personality characteristics and character traits necessary to pursue apologetics as a vocation. Of course, the primary characteristic is one of pursuing God. Included with this is some discussion about how we might recognize a calling in defense of the faith. Many pastors want to equip us in ministry, but Sire's discussion actually gets down to helping us recognize if this is our calling. Sire provides some pointers to great books on the major issues we might have to deal with. It's always good to have a book of great sources I also like the many examples he provides in his book about encounters with people, including mistakes he has made. I hope this will have a wide audience and encourage others to consider this calling.

Weak
Format: Paperback
I very weak primer on apologetics. The author is really not convinced himself; so, it is difficult for him to present convincing arguments.
