How to Install Cisco 140AC

Installing the Cisco 140AC is designed to be straightforward, minimizing downtime while maximizing coverage and performance. Below is a practical walkthrough that covers planning, physical installation, initial configuration, and optimization so your wireless network is ready to support users and devices from day one.

  • Plan the deployment: Begin with a site assessment to identify high‑traffic areas, potential sources of interference, and ideal mounting locations. Place the AP in a central location on ceilings or high on walls to provide optimal coverage for open spaces, meeting rooms, and common areas. Consider the physical environment and any barriers such as metal shelving or dense walls that can affect signal strength.
  • Prepare power and connectivity: Connect the Cisco 140AC to a PoE-enabled switch or injector. Verify that the switch provides adequate PoE power budget for the AP and for future growth. Use a high-quality, shielded Ethernet cable to minimize interference and preserve data integrity across longer runs.
  • Mount and secure the device: Install the AP securely in the chosen location using the provided mounting hardware. If you’re using ceiling mounting, ensure the unit is firmly attached and positioned to maximize line-of-sight coverage while minimizing potential physical damage or tampering. Confirm all cables are neatly managed and protected from foot traffic or equipment movement.
  • Access the management interface: Power up the device and connect a laptop or workstation to the same network. Access the AP’s management page using the default IP address or through Cisco’s deployment dashboard, as applicable in your environment. Log in with the credentials specified in the user guide and change them immediately to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Configure basic wireless services: Create one or more SSIDs, including a dedicated guest network if needed. Choose security methods such as WPA2-Enterprise or WPA2-PSK and configure appropriate encryption. If your network uses VLANs, apply VLAN tagging to segregate guest traffic from your internal network and to simplify traffic management.
  • Integrate with centralized management (optional): If you manage devices with Cisco DNA Center, a Cisco cloud management platform, or another network management system, onboard the AP according to the platform’s instructions. Centralized management enables streamlined firmware updates, policy enforcement, analytics, and real-time monitoring across your wireless landscape.
  • Fine-tune RF performance: Run a quick site survey to verify coverage and identify dead zones. Adjust transmit power and channel settings to minimize interference and maximize throughput. Consider enabling features like automatic channel selection and band steering to improve client distribution and performance in crowded environments.
  • Test and validate: Verify client connectivity across devices, run a throughput test in representative areas, and confirm that security settings protect data while allowing legitimate access. Document the configuration for future maintenance and be prepared to adjust as user needs evolve or as new devices are introduced.

HIGH waist, correct sizing, ok fabric...NOT SEE THRU!! Cool pants though!
Fit Type: 31" Inseam, Size: Medium, Color: Deep Khaki
If it's a few inches ABOVE my belly button, inseam is correct... but then MED is SUPER baggy in the butt (I have a small butt maybe?) WELL MADE! NOT see thru!! Fabric is kind of stiff, BUT because it's a linen blend, may be beneficial for less wrinkles? 😃 Probably improve if washed. Also tried the small, belly/butt area is better, but super high and a little tight on me. NO off gassing 👏👏👏 Super versatile (dress up or down) Good price.

70%linen, 30% cotton pants
Fit Type: 31" Inseam, Size: X-Large, Color: Khaki
Linen cotton blend, soft & not see through. I'm 5'4" & 157 lbs, ordered a XL size & they fit perfectly, just a but long. Took me 8-10 minutes to hem, & now they are my go-to summer pants! Elastic + drawstring waist & wide legs look very stylish. I'm very pleased, will probably order more in a different color. I love the natural linen color, but since I see fabric thickness will try in white since summers where I live are triple-digits. GREAT PANTS for the price!

These are so-so
Good fit (I’m 5’8”, 215 pounds, and got an XL), cool and light fabric. I wore them on a recent trip to Walt Disney World, and they held up pretty well. They do get wrinkled easily, though, and I was somewhat dismayed to find that the fabric pilled badly in the crotch area (see photo). This was after only one laundering and one vacation where I wore them maybe three days. 😒 I have a feeling that they won’t last for more than one summer season. I expected better for the money, honestly.

Read the size guide!
Fit Type: 31" Inseam, Size: Large, Color: Khaki
Got the light khaki Large. I am 5'7" and 180#'s. Loved the sturdy yet breathable material and the color. But too small. READ THE SIZE GUIDE! I didn't, and now I have to return and reorder. OK. Got the right size. Love 'em. Comfort and fit are great. Not crazy about having to line dry, but it's the price one pays for having natural fabrics.

RED & BLACK PANTS BLEED WHEN DRY AND WILL RUIN WHATEVER THEY TOUCH
Fit Type: 31" Inseam, Size: Medium, Color: Wine
These are very cute and flattering pants, but the first I wore them they turned everything they touched pink. The tops of my sneakers where they touched are now pink. The case of my cell phone that I slipped into my back pocket is now permanently pink. Apparently this is called “crocking” and occurs because there is a heavy excess of "unbound" dye on the surface of the fibers that was never properly rinsed or set during manufacturing. To fix this, I’ll have to go through a two-step process to strip away the excess surface dye and then chemically "lock" what remains. The needed specialized detergent and fixative products will cost another $20 (not to mention the pink sneakers and phone case). The process will take a couple of hours. I suspect the same dry bleeding would happen with other dark colors of these pants. Save yourself the hassle and buy a better, pricier pant in the first place. It’s very disappointing because they fit is great. They do stretch a size or two in the butt and thighs but the waist doesn’t stretch, which is good.
