Happy End is the self-titled 1970 debut album by Japanese folk rock pioneers Happy End, originally released on URC Records. Voted as the number one rock album of 1970 by Japan’s New Music Magazine.

One of the most influential bands to come out of the ’60s-’70s Tokyo folk and rock scene, Happy End was a deliberate attempt to marry the sounds of West Coast rock with a distinctively Japanese sensibility. Formed by Haruomi Hosono and the similarly music-obsessed Eiichi Ohtaki in 1969, the group was rounded out by teen guitar phenom Shigeru Suzuki and poet-drummer Takashi Matsumoto, whose stylized lyrics provided the foundation for the concept of the “Kazemachi,” or “Wind City,” a rapidly modernizing city with nostalgia towards the simpler life of their youth. Happy End were heavily in demand as a backing band, providing a solid rock foundation for many of the artists on URC.

The success of Happy End’s debut album, as well as their following album Kazemachi Roman, proved the sustainability of Japanese-language rock in Japan.

I've been using this for about a month now, every night on my face and neck, hoping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and tighten some of my skin in that area that seems to be losing elasticity. On my neck, I've honestly noticed no real difference in 4 weeks of continued, consistent daily use. The skin on my face does seem brighter and somewhat less textured than before, but I haven't noticed any change in the issues I was hoping this would resolve, based on the claims and how it was marketed. So... not a bad addition to my skincare, but not the solution I was looking for. Some have expressed concerns about it tingling or stinging... You can feel something when you apply it, it's almost like the feeling of static electricity, but it's very mild. I wouldn't let that stop you from giving it a try if you were concerned about it. It didn't cause my sensitive skin any breakouts or redness (although I was applying it at night before bed, so perhaps any redness was calmed overnight). I'm going to go ahead and finish the bottle, but based on these results, I probably won't repurchase.
