Sprinters are measuring 72” window to window and most adults need a few more inches to be able to sleep comfortably. Backland Expedition Gear's fibreglass Pods are a pair of window extension installed on the rear quarter panels of a Sprinter van, increasing its width. Their insulated Extended Depth Pods will make it possible to build a 80” long bed and at the same time maximize your interior camper space.
The 144 Extended Depth Pod set will give you a 80" (203cm) long bed. The driver’s side pod is extended and the passenger’s side pod is a regular depth. Backland Expedition Gear's offer cutout and window installation for additional cost. They do not recommend the use of an awning style window on the passenger side of the 144 wheelbase pod.
There is a space of 3/4" (20mm) between the sliding door and the passenger's side Pod to make sure the door will slide freely with snow or ice build up. The exterior surface must be protected from UV rays with bed liner, paint or a vinyl wrap.
The flat exterior surface makes it possible to use windows up to 46” x 20” (116x50cm). The window cutout can be done using a jigsaw and a fine tooth blade.
The specifically formulated gel coat is use as a sanding substrate for automotive parts that will be subsequently painted.
As this is a customizable item, production timeline is generally 2 weeks.

3/4" (20mm) Thick - The wall of our ClimateCore PODS features 2 layers of fibreglass with an embedded rigid foam insulation with high thermal properties. We engineered our PODS to provide maximum space while maintaining ultimate comfort. And as a side benefit, your rig will look great!
