Victron VE.Can to CAN-Bus BMS Type B Cable: Reliable 5m Communication Link for GX Devices

Purpose-Built CAN-Bus Cable for Victron Energy Systems

The Victron VE.Can to CAN-Bus BMS Type B Cable (5m) provides a dedicated, plug-and-play communication pathway between your CAN-bus enabled battery and a Victron GX device. Engineered to exacting specifications, this cable ensures stable data exchange, allowing your GX system to monitor battery status, state of charge, and critical parameters in real time. Without a properly connected BMS cable, the battery may not appear on the GX display and could shut down unexpectedly, risking power loss to connected equipment.

This 5-metre cable is ideal for installations where the battery bank and GX device are positioned at a distance, such as in larger off-grid power systems, marine setups, or vehicle-based energy solutions. The flexible blue jacket and moulded RJ45 connectors with clear labels simplify routing and identification, reducing installation time and the potential for wiring errors.

Type B Pinout for Specific Battery Compatibility

This Type B cable (part number ASS030720050) is designed for batteries that require a specific CAN-bus pin configuration. It is compatible with a wide range of lithium battery models, including:

  • Pylontech US2000, US3000, UP2500
  • LG Chem Resu
  • AXIstorage 7S/9S
  • BMZ
  • BSLBATT Lithium Battery
  • Solar MD BMS EX
  • Freedom Won eTower

Using the correct cable type is essential. The Type B cable differs from the Type A variant in its internal wiring, matching the CAN-H, CAN-L, and GND pin assignments required by the listed batteries. Connecting an incompatible cable can prevent communication, leading to system faults or battery shutdown. Always verify your battery model against the compatibility list before installation.

Key Features

  • 5-metre length provides flexibility for installations where the GX device and battery are not adjacent
  • Clear labelling on each connector: "Victron VE.Can" and "CAN-bus BMS" to prevent misconnection
  • Moulded RJ45 plugs ensure secure, strain-relieved connections that resist vibration and corrosion
  • Flexible blue jacket allows easy routing through conduits, cable trays, and tight spaces
  • Precise Type B pinout guarantees compatibility with specified battery models, eliminating guesswork
  • Plug-and-play installation – no crimping, soldering, or custom wiring required

Why a Dedicated BMS Cable Matters

In a Victron Energy ecosystem, the GX device (such as a Cerbo GX or Color Control GX) acts as the central communication hub. It relies on accurate battery data to optimise charging, manage loads, and protect the battery from over-discharge or over-voltage conditions. A generic network cable may not have the correct pinout or shielding, leading to intermittent data, incorrect readings, or complete communication failure. The Victron VE.Can to CAN-Bus BMS Type B Cable is purpose-built to maintain signal integrity, reducing the risk of system downtime and protecting your investment in premium energy storage.

Installation Guidance

Connect the end labelled "CAN-bus BMS" to the CAN port on your master battery. Plug the "Victron VE.Can" end into a VE.Can or BMS-Can port on your GX device. If using a VE.Can port, configure it to CAN-bus BMS (500 kbit/s) in the GX settings. Install the supplied VE.Can terminator in the second VE.Can socket on the GX device. Once connected, the battery should appear on the GX display, confirming successful communication.

For systems with multiple battery modules, use the manufacturer-supplied RJ45 cables to link the batteries together via their link ports. The master battery is the one with an empty link port 0. No DIP switch adjustments are typically required; the batteries will auto-detect and synchronise.

Built for Demanding Environments

Whether installed in a marine engine room, a remote off-grid shed, or a vehicle subjected to constant movement, this cable is designed to withstand harsh conditions. The robust RJ45 connectors resist corrosion, while the durable jacket protects against abrasion and UV exposure. This ensures long-term reliability and consistent performance, even in high-vibration or high-humidity settings.

Complete Your Victron System with Confidence

Ensure seamless communication between your battery and GX device with the Victron VE.Can to CAN-Bus BMS Type B Cable (5m). Order today to maintain full visibility and control over your energy storage system, and avoid the downtime that comes with unreliable connections.

Natural Dunlop Latex Topper Has Multiple Uses
Size: Twin XL 2"
This is a well made, high quality, 2” thick piece of all-natural latex. You can use it on top of any bed to provide a nice, comfortable mattress topper that has a medium-firm feel to it. It gives good support for those who sleep on their back and on their sides. The latex topper springs back and sleeps cooler than memory foam toppers, which compress and generally sleep hot. Latex toppers cost more upfront than memory foam toppers, but they can last twice as long. I built a custom-made all-natural latex bed that was too soft and didn’t provide enough support. I removed a 2” thick piece of ultra soft (#14) Talalay latex inside the bed and replaced it with this 2” thick piece of Dunlop latex for more support. I then used the Talalay latex on top as a mattress topper and now my bed is perfect! Once you’ve slept on all- natural latex, you’ll never want to go back to artificial memory foam.

Discovered latex and thrilled
Size: Queen
Bought a Beautyrest mattress in late 2021 that now is uncomfortable and has dips. Beautyrest would reject the 10 year warranty due to a single stain on mattress (based on their policy), so I didn't even bother. So, I pondered if I should order a new one and which one. In the process I found out latex toppers may save the day. Talatex medium firm mattress in queen size was received within a week and a half and installed on top of existing Beautyrest mattress. Since then, no pain in hips, no sweating at night, no neck problems. My daughter tested it one night with me, and since then wants to sleep on my bed and not hers, so this is really reviewed by two people. Excellent product!! Has a bounce but you don't sink in it (two mattresses ago, I had a 13" high end high density visco elastic memory foam mattress where sinking into it happened). When I can afford, I will buy a 4" latex topper firm and install that under the existing 2" Talatex medium firm over a slatted base. I'll do away completely w/ the mattress I'm using now.

Does not provide much pressure relief
Size: Queen
It does keep you cooler/neutral. It needs to be a little denser. When you are on it, it goes pretty flat. It does help some but my hip needs a little more support that this offers. Be aware, the cover has a coating of fire retardant. We asked them to send one without the toxic chemicals. (Personal choice)

Forget about the memory foam!
Size: Twin 3 Inches
My sleep quality is fantastic on this thing, and I don’t even sweat like a memory foam cover! I was scared to spend the money but I’m glad I did! It’s really helped my back and overall pain, as it rises to fit the empty spaces left by flat firm mattresses.
