This 8-piece Damascus kitchen knife set gives you eight matched knives and a leather roll for complete daily kitchen prep. Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel in a wave-pattern finish. Red pakka wood handles with silver pins run consistently across all eight knives. Full tang construction throughout — blade steel runs the complete length into every handle with no joint or seam. A leather roll with individual blade pockets is included for safe storage and transport.

This is the only 8-piece Damascus kitchen knife set at JW Steel Crafts with red pakka wood handles and a leather roll in this full eight-blade configuration.

The History Behind This Blade

Eight-knife professional kitchen sets became the standard in French Escoffier brigade kitchens of the late 19th century, where each station cook carried a dedicated blade for every task — no switching, no improvising. Red handle materials entered professional knife design as a practical distinction tool in busy commercial kitchens, where a bold handle color allowed instant visual identification across a full prep station. Pairing that brigade discipline with hand-forged Damascus steel brings pattern-welded blade tradition into a complete modern kitchen set. The JW Steel Crafts red pakka wood Damascus set carries both traditions in every forged blade.

What Is Inside the Set

  • Chef Knife — Primary chopping, slicing, and daily kitchen prep, the largest blade

  • Bread Knife — Serrated edge for clean cuts through crusty loaves without compression

  • Santoku — Flat edge for precise downward cuts through vegetables and boneless proteins

  • Chinese Cleaver — Heavy board work, dense vegetable breakdown, and portion transfer

  • Slicing Knife — Long, narrow blade for clean passes through brisket, roasts, and large proteins

  • Utility Knife — Mid-size blade for trimming, portioning, and fast prep tasks

  • Petty Knife — Precise control during fine prep and detail cutting work

  • Paring Knife — Peeling, trimming, and close hand detail work, the smallest blade

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel. The folding and drawing process during forging creates the wave pattern visible across each blade flat and builds consistent edge retention through repeated daily kitchen use. Damascus steel resharpens predictably on a whetstone and holds a refined edge longer than commercial stamped steel under the same daily load. Full tang construction runs through every red pakka wood handle and spreads weight evenly from the blade tip to the handle end. The balance point sits near the handle front, reducing hand fatigue during long prep sessions across all eight knives.

Handle Construction

Every handle is shaped from red pakka wood. Pakka wood is stabilized hardwood compressed with resin under high pressure. It resists moisture, swelling, and warping through daily kitchen use in wet prep conditions. The deep red grain shows darker natural streaks through each handle — no two pieces are identical. Silver pins lock each handle firmly to the full tang. No bolster — the blade runs directly into the red pakka wood for a clean, balanced profile across all eight knives.

Leather Roll

The leather roll holds all eight knives in individual blade pockets. Buckle straps wrap and secure the closed roll for transport between kitchens, events, and outdoor cooking setups. It unrolls flat for full counter access during prep and doubles as display packaging — no extra wrapping needed for gifting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this set different from the 5-piece Damascus dark rosewood set at JW Steel Crafts?

This set has 8 knives, including a bread knife, slicer, and petty knife not in the 5-piece set. The handle is red pakka wood — the 5-piece uses dark rosewood with steel bolsters.

Why no bolster on these handles?

The blade runs directly into the red pakka wood for a clean, lightweight balance across all eight knives, suited to long prep sessions where front-heavy knives cause hand fatigue.

What is red pakka wood?

Stabilized hardwood compressed with resin. It resists moisture and warping through daily kitchen use and shows a deep red grain with natural darker streaks on every handle.

Does Damascus steel require special care?

Hand wash and dry immediately after every use. Apply food-safe mineral oil occasionally. Never put Damascus knives in a dishwasher.

Is the leather roll included?

Yes. Individual blade pockets and buckle straps — ships presentation-ready for gifting without extra wrapping.

Are all eight knives full tang?

Yes. Steel runs the complete length of every red pakka wood handle for strength, balance, and long-term durability.

Is this set suitable as a gift?

Yes. Eight matched Damascus blades, red pakka wood handles.

so elegant but best for softer foods
Color: Gold, Color: Gold
I am impressed with this gold silverware. I was surprised because they are very light, but they are also elegant. The handles are a little longer than the usual plasticware, so holding them, using them to eat, made me feel like the meal was elevated. These would be perfect at a garden party, a brunch, a fancy picnic. I love that there are equal numbers of knives, forks, and spoons, and they would look beautiful at place settings, or just tossed into glasses for people to grab what they need. My one misgiving about recommending these for any occasion is the knife. It’s just not sharp, and like the other pieces, it is lightweight. It’s great for spreading butter onto a roll and could cut through soft foods like pasta or cake. But any attempt to cut through a piece of meat or a starchy vegetable that’s just lightly cooked will result in the knife snapping in half. But if you’re serving relatively soft foods (brunch would be perfect!), then this is an elegant, easy solution to feed a lot of people while keeping cleanup to a minimum.

Fancy enough for a wedding, easy enough for a backyard party
Color: Gold, Color: Gold
I picked up this 300 Pack Premium Heavy Duty Gold Plastic Silverware set for a recent gathering, and honestly it worked out better than I expected. When you’re hosting a larger group, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of utensils or washing a mountain of dishes afterward, and this set definitely helped with that. First off, the 300-piece set is really convenient. You get 100 forks, 100 spoons, and 100 knives, which made it easy to plan for about 100 guests without having to buy multiple packs. Everything arrived neatly organized in a clear storage box, which actually made it super easy to keep things tidy until party time. The gold metallic finish is surprisingly nice. It gave the table a more polished, elegant look than standard plastic cutlery. I used them for a semi-formal dinner setup, and they blended in well with the decorations instead of looking cheap or out of place. As for durability, they’re definitely heavier than typical disposable utensils. The forks handled pasta and salads just fine, and the knives worked well for softer foods like chicken and cake. They’re not quite the same as real metal silverware, of course, but for plastic they’re pretty sturdy and didn’t snap or bend easily. I also appreciated that they’re BPA-free and disposable, which made cleanup incredibly simple once everything wrapped up. The only small downside is that if you’re cutting tougher foods like steak, you might notice the knives aren’t quite strong enough for that. But for most party foods, buffets, and desserts, they work perfectly well. Overall, this is a great option for parties, weddings, or large dinners when you want something that looks nicer than basic plastic but still want the convenience of disposable utensils. I’d definitely use them again for future events.
