Lycoming Torque Plates - Wide DeckThese Lycoming Torque 'Hold Down' plates (Wide Deck) are offered as a direct replacement for Lycoming PN# ST 222 Wide Deck (Wide Deck). When installed, the Torque Plates prevent the Crankshaft Bearings from rotating out of position by maintaining the clamping force on the case when cylinders are removed. The plate not only maintains a clamping force, but it also protects both the connecting rod and the case from damage caused by the connecting rod

These Lycoming Torque 'Hold-Down' plates (Wide Deck) are offered as a direct replacement for Lycoming PN# ST-222 / Wide Deck (Wide Deck). When installed, the Torque Plates prevent the Crankshaft Bearings from rotating out of position by maintaining the clamping force on the case when cylinders are removed. The plate not only maintains a clamping force, but it also protects both the connecting rod and the case from damage caused by the connecting rod contacting the case during engine service. Our plates are manufactured from high-carbon steel and heat treated.  When the clamping force of the hold-down hardware is utilized, it can deform a non-heat treated torque plate.  Torque used should be less than the final engine assembly torque to avoid using up a "crush cycle" on the bearings.  Lycoming urges the use of ST-222 / Wide Deck Torque Plates during any type of overhaul process that requires the removal of a cylinder.
