De roep om hulp leidde tot liefdadigheidsacties, ook in Nederland. Centraal stonden de zogenaamde kindertreinen, waarmee van 1920-1930 meer dan 28.000 Hongaarse kinderen voor enige maanden naar Nederland kwamen om bij te komen van alle rampspoed en aan te sterken. Gelijktijdig daarmee kwam het tot een intensieve culturele uitwisseling, onder meer op kerkelijk-theologisch gebied. In dit boek worden deze contacten tussen Nederlandse en Hongaarse protestanten in kaart gebracht en geanalyseerd.
