Er zijn vele port huizen, maar weinig familie port huizen waarvan Quinta do Portal er één van is. De wijngaarden van Portal staan al honderden jaren langs de rivier de Douro en maken hiermee een van de oudste wijngebieden van de wereld. Het is een wonderschone omgeving waarin de trossen opgroeien en daar blijft niet bij hoor, want de port wijnen zijn eveneens prachtig. Het wijnhuis en een gedeelte van de wijngaarden liggen vlakbij de plaats Pinhão, het hart van het portgebied. Alle port wijnen van Portal worden gemaakt van de druiven uit eigen wijngaarden. In totaal heeft het porthuis maar liefst 95 hectare aan wijngaarden en kan hiermee een constante top kwaliteit vervaardigen. De wijngaarden zijn verdeeld over verschillende zogezegde Quintas: Quinta da Abelheira, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta dos Muros, en Quinta do Portal. Elk Quinta heeft zijn eigen specialisme en verbouwd de druiven op verschillende hellingen in het Douro gebied. Door de jaren heen heeft men veel geïnvesteerd, en hiermee is de kwaliteit voor de komen jaren gewaarborgd. De familie Portal houdt van tradities en dat merken we ook terug in de geur en smaak van onder andere deze Fine Ruby Porto.Een jonge port volledig zoet
Deze Fine Ruby Porto is de jongste port van het porthuis Quinta do Portal. Hij wordt gemaakt van de lokale druivenrassen die er te vinden in het port gebied. De druiven groeien op aan zeer oude ranken waarbij de ondergrond een soort schatkamer is. De bodem zit namelijk vol voedingsstoffen door de eeuwenlange verbouwing van de trossen. Het leefklimaat waarin de trossen opgroeien is perfect, veel zonneschijn en door de steile hellingen genieten de trossen ook van koelte van de wind. Hierdoor is het groeiproces rustig en zeer evenwichtig. Als de oogst rijp is voor deze Ruby port worden de trossen met de hand geoogst en naar Portal gebracht.De smaak van deze Portal Fine Ruby Port
De Portal Fine Ruby Port krijgt een korte rijping op eiken hout om alle frisse en zachte zoete smaken te laten behouden. Hierdoor kent hij een robijn rode kleur die werkelijk waar prachtig schittert in het glas. Omdat deze Ruby port een blend is tussen jonge port en port van twee jaar oud krijgt hij een vol maar intens zacht karakter. Dat merken we ook terug in de zuivere geur, die geeft namelijk indrukken van pruimen, confiture, kersen, wat pure chocolade. De smaak is erg zacht en verfijnd zoet op de tong, veel rijpe kersen en wat verse bramen zijn gemakkelijk waar te nemen. Great for sensitive skin, cleans well.

Only soap I can use at the moment. I have extremely sensitive skin: I cannot do really any coconut derivatives or even palm oils but this soap does not bother me at all. I feel clean with no heavy scents afterwards (I use the unscented version) which is a win in my book. I don’t use it on my face or hair just as a body soap and it doesn’t make my skin feel prickly or give me any unexpected rashes/reactions. It is a little drying for eczema prone skin so I just use more lotion when necessary. You get two very large bars that last well for the price it seems reasonable, but honestly I’d pay anything to not itch at this point.

You will not regret buying!!

I don't normally write product reviews but this soap truly deserves it. I had heard about beef tallow products as a carnivore dieter but hadn't paid too much attention to them until I found a huge mass on my thyroid. Suddenly, I'm looking at all the products that I use and am shocked that everything has endocrine disrupters like dyes and fragrances. This was the most natural soap I could find and what a huge turn around in my skin. I have always had certain areas that are habitually dry and even lotion would not 100% fix them. After using this soap for over 2 weeks, my skin is so smooth and almost has that glow you see in lotion commercials. I have not applied any lotion at all in the last 2 weeks and I'm softer than I have ever been. I even shaved with it and it was the smoothest shave I have ever had. I used to use conditioner to shave with and this soap is far superior. It is also far superior to the facial lotion soap I was using. My face isn't dry anymore and no more rebound oil. The people that I have told about this are immediately grossed out and think that the soap smells. There is an ever so slight hint of tallow but it does not last and once you start using the bar it isn't noticeable unless you sniff the bar itself. It does initially leave that sticky feeling that you get from Castille soap, which is strange when you're used to conventional beauty bars or body washes. But please don't quit using it! That sticky feeling is adding moisture and protection to your skin and once you towel off I promise you will not feel sticky. After a few weeks, I promise it won't feel weird anymore and you'll have the best skin of your life!! I'm sorry for the long review, but I am so grateful for this product. It is not only a beauty miracle but better for your whole body, no more toxic chemicals leaching through you skin.
And people are not lying when they say this soap lasts. I use it twice a day and I still have a good sized bar left. Also, it really does not disintegrate like regular bar soaps. A few reviews mentioned it being expensive and my husband also commented on this when I bought it, but in my opinion it is extremely cost effective!! This is my rationale, it replaces the facial lotion wash, shaving conditioner, and the need for body lotion and it lasts a long time. My other reasoning is that the long term medical costs of using toxic products just doesn't seem worth it.

Cleared up my skin!

I have been using this soap for a little over a year. I was on accutane to cure really stubborn acne and when I got off my acne came back. I started using this paired with a beef tallow and honey moisturizer as my only skincare and it cleared up my skin so well. I love this soap and it is so natural and nontoxic. Amazing product.

Truth

I have used this product for just 4 days now. This will be good and bad. A good all natural soap is not going to sud up like other soaps, I was shocked when I read some of the reviews and suds or the lack of suds seemed to be a big issue. This soap has very little suds. Another issue was smell. I do not notice any smell at all, the next time I order this product I would like to try the lemon for a little sent. This bar will last a long time, a little really gos along way. I do not notice any dryness but my skins feels tighter which makes me think it’s dry. I use my favorite body lotion and all is good. After the first use my skin was noticeably brighter. I had a pimple on my chin that was forming. I left the soap on my face for about 1 min. The next morning the pimple was nearly gone day two completely gone. I use a face cream called Just Tallow and combined with this soap it’s a perfect match. Tonight I put some soap on my feet and scrubbed them with a pumice stone and my feet are so soft right now. This is a good product and I will order again.
