Een magnum die Toro op zijn best laat spreken, met sappig rood fruit, subtiele eikenkruiden en de extra flair van het grote formaat. Wat is het voordeel van een magnum bij rode wijn? Door de kleinere verhouding zuurstof tot wijn rijpt een magnum langzamer en behoudt hij langer frisheid, spanning en diepte, ideaal voor aan tafel én voor de kelder.

Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven komen van wire trained wijngaarden met een gemiddelde leeftijd van 35 jaar. De bovenlaag bestaat uit zand en stenen en warmt snel op terwijl hij goed draineert, waardoor Tinta de Toro rijp en geconcentreerd wordt. Koele nachten houden de zuren levendig. Er wordt met de hand geoogst in kratten en in de kelder nogmaals streng geselecteerd.

Vinificatie en rijping

De vergisting verloopt bij gecontroleerde temperatuur gedurende 17 dagen met twee remontages per dag. Remontage is het rondpompen van most over de schilkap zodat kleur, geur en zachte tannines optimaal worden onttrokken. De wijn rijpt 5 maanden in Franse eiken vaten met medium toast. Het alcoholpercentage is 15 procent. Het karakter blijft fruitgedreven, met precies genoeg houtinvloed voor rondheid en lengte.

Druivensamenstelling

Tinta de Toro 100 procent. Dit is de lokale Tempranillo met compacte trossen en dikke schillen, geliefd in Toro vanwege geconcentreerde bessenaroma’s, natuurlijke structuur en een krachtige kleur die ook in magnumformaat prachtig tot uiting komt.

Proefnotities en serveertips

Diep kersenrood met violette schakering. In de geur rode bessen, wilde vruchten, een hint zoethout en geroosterde tonen. De smaak is fris en breed, met een precieze balans tussen fruit en hout en een lange, zijdeachtige afdronk. Serveer op 14 tot 16 graden. Een magnum komt mooi tot zijn recht bij gedeelde tafels met rood vlees, gerijpte vleeswaren, pasta met tomaat en kruiden of stevige witvis van de grill. Decanteer 30 tot 45 minuten voor extra lucht en souplesse. Onder optimale omstandigheden kan deze magnum ongeveer 4 jaar worden bewaard.

Over het wijnhuis

Make sure you read the terms and conditions and don't let them off the hook
Asurion is counting on the fact that you don't know how to read. They made the claim process aggravating and as difficult as possible. I CAN read and had to review the terms and conditions with them on the phone and threaten to involve an attorney before they would honor the coverage. They tried to say my product was not portable, when the word "portable" is literally in the name of the product. Then they tried to say the the accidental drop was not covered, but it clearly states in the terms and conditions that an accidental drop and a cracked screen is a covered event. I buy the coverage almost every time I am offered it, but I will be rethinking that going forward and Amazon should consider finding a different company to issue the protection plans for their products because I fear this is the beginning of a lot of complaints. I have filed a claim in the past and it was very straightforward and easy, but they must have a new company managing the plans now, because it was anything but easy. If I was an older person who was not tech savy, or who just took someone's word at face value, I would be out the cost of my item and the protection plan. BUYER BEWARE

They honor their product.
I've been dealing with Asurion for over a decade now. They're my first choice when making a purchase that I know I'm going to have around for a while. Asurion backs its product to the hilt. I purchased a mid-range priced printer about 2 1/2 yrs. ago along with a 3yr. warranty from Asurion to cover any unexpected 'surprises' that might happen to pop up. Fast forward to approximately 3 months ago, when my printer decided that it wanted to start acting up. The print quality was taking a nose dive; colors were beginning to drop out, showing streaks and fading. Clarity and sharpness are virtually gone. I contacted Asurion about the problem. I couldn't have found a nicer rep to deal with. She said not to worry and within minutes had the situation under control. She sent me all the information and pre-paid postage on how to pack and have my unit shipped to their repair facilities. In less than a week my unit was repaired and returned to me. However, this is not the end of the story. Within a few days, my unit was acting up again and doing the same thing it went in for. Again, I got hold of Asurion (Same great service, different girl). We repeated the same process as before, but this time the unit was there about a week longer. When I finally received the unit, I immediately hooked it up and put it through the numbers, testing everything. To be blunt, the print quality was worse than the 1st time it went in for service. After voicing my displeasure (basically having a hissy-fit), I regained my composure and contacted Asurion, again! This time they told me that since their techs were unable to resolve the issue and to not have me waiting any longer than I have already, they're going ahead and refunding the total amount I paid for the unit. Even though it was somewhat of a Pain-in-the-ASS to go through, I couldn't be happier. Within 48 hrs. I had my refund in hand and I turned around and purchased a replacement Printer. Moral to the story, have a contingency plan, Just in case. Check out Asurion: Great customer service - Nice people, very competitive pricing for their products and they honor their word by their actions. Highly recommend Asurion to anyone.
