Optimale rijpheid voor Roederer Rose

Champagnehuis Louis Roederer is een van de laatste grote familiehuizen in Champagne. Met hun ruim 200 hectare wijngaarden bieden ze een breed scala aan wijnen. Het is niet makkelijk om een perfecte rijpheid te bereiken in het steeds veranderende champagneklimaat. Daarom koos Louis Roederer ervoor om flink te investeren in de wijngaarden van Cumières. De wijngaarden liggen hier op het zuiden en hebben een ondiepe kalkhoudende kleigrond. Hier genieten de wijngaarden van het vele licht dat wordt weerkaatst door de oevers van de rivier de Marne. Het zorgt ervoor dat de druiven optimaal kunnen rijpen. De druiven worden zeer streng geselecteerd tijdens het oogsten. Slechts 20 procent van de blend wordt na de pluk op eikenhouten vaten gerijpt. De blend ondergaat geen malolactische fermentatie. Om de rosé champagne te maken gebruikt Louis Roederer altijd de saignée methode, gevolgd door maceratie met de schillen. Gemiddeld genomen rijpt een Louis Roederer brut rosé 4 jaar in de kelders en nog 6 maanden na disgorgementie.

Hoe smaakt de Louis Roederer Rose?

Het resultaat is een elegantie champagne met een zeer fruitig aroma. De neus wordt gedomineerd door fruitige aroma's, die worden afgewisseld met tonen van gebak en brioche, ontstaan door rijping op de droesem. In de mond is het romig, zacht, met een grote en ronde slok die de drinkervaring soepel maakt. Ideaal als aperitief, het wordt ook aanbevolen om het tijdens de maaltijd te drinken, waar het de visgerechten met stijl begeleidt, zowel met rauw voedsel als met gegrilde bereidingen.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

This book wasn't bad, but wasn't my cup of tea. It's highly disappointing because the storyline is so original. There is no real conflict or resolution, so the entire thing feels flat. As a lover of omegaverse books, I know there is a ton of variety out there, and ov is really up to the author. But this one is weird. Omegas have multiple scent glands all over their bodies and go into week long heats every month. Alphas have knots in the middle of their shaft instead of the base, and the knot doesn't always swell, no explanation of when or why. It doesn't engage at all when the mouth is in play. I also didn't enjoy the author's writing style. Each paragraph is only 1 or 2 sentences long, and the entire book reads very stacato. The conversations are stiff and unnatural feeling. Everything is very repetitive, both in word choice and in thought. The same thing is repeated 3 or 4 times over a single page, multiple times over. I ended up doing so much skimming. The first 50% of the book is all slow burn, and the last 50% is almost straight mediocre spice. This wouldn't have been all bad if the grammar and spelling errors didn't start at the exact same time. Tongue is repeatedly misspelled in the middle of the spice.
