Shimano's Synchronized Shift technologie synchroniseert het schakelen voor met het schakelen achter, waardoor beide derailleurs effectief samenwerken.
Met de Semi-Synchronized Shift technologie is het andersom: het schakelen van de achterderailleur wordt gesynchroniseerd met het schakelen van de voorderailleur, zodat de optimale overbrengingsverhouding behouden blijft.
Tegelijkertijd centreert de auto-trimfunctie van de Di2 de voorderailleur automatisch precies rond de ketting, waardoor kettingwrijving wordt voorkomen wanneer de ketting door de cassette beweegt. Zo snel, precies en soepel kun je schakelen.
