Currants - Eucalyptus - Pepper

Karri Vineyard is a joint project between natural wine import legends Les Caves de Pyrene and Xavier Goodridge, one of our favourite Aussie winemakers, focusing on the beautiful Margaret River region in Western Australia.  (Karri is the Aboriginal name for the Eucalyptus Diversicolor - Karri forests only occur in this part of Western Australia.)

The vineyard is owned and farmed organically and biodynamically by McHenry Hohnen and located right on the coast, a few hundred metres from the Indian Ocean. The climate is mainly cool and windy - if there is good swell, you can sense the sea spray in the air.

This elegant, unfiltered cool-climate Cab Sauv is vinified in steel tanks, with a short ageing in neutral oak barrels for a fruit focused wine that stays fresh in the palate. You'll find aromas and flavours of dark currants, menthol, eucalyptus and pepper with some fine-grained tannins from the wood ageing.
