Cross country skiing has been around for millennia. Prehistoric cave drawings in Russia show hunters gliding on skis. Skis were an essential form of transportation for the Swiss army during the16th century. By 1767,the Norwegian army was holding official competitions and, in 1843, that same country held the first civilian cross country ski event.
A test of physical and mental endurance, cross country skiing was part of the first Olympic Winter Games in 1924. Men competed in 18- and50-kilometre races and the women’s Olympic sport event was added in 1952.
Highlights: This coin is a must-have collectible for sports fans! It captures the energy and speed of cross country skiing as the latest theme in this historic, 15-coin collection that wraps up at the end of2009. Each coin features a captivating design struck in sterling silver alongside a selective hologram showcasing the official Vancouver 2010Olympic Winter Games logo.
Reverse: Two competitors race towards victory.
Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger). These three words, comprising the motto of the Olympic movement, encourage the athlete in all of us to give our best during competition, and to view this effort as its own victory

It is really well made and perfect for travel!
It is just like the picture and it is lovely. Plenty of room and under the tray it is large enough for changes with pendents. It is perfect for a girl and will be perfect for the amount of jewerly you take when traveling. Thank You!

Very nice little box.
This is a great little jewelry box. I don’t have tons of jewelry right now, so this fits everything well, and the leather-look material is very nice. I like the simple design and organization, and it is a nice size to travel with. It looks really pretty sitting on my dresser and goes with the aesthetic of my home well.

Pretty
Very nice simple jewelry box. My only issue is spacing to put necklaces is a bit tight, but there is plenty of room in this little guy. I put a lighter next to it, for size comparison.
