ABOUT THE ART
Cheriyal paintings are generally the pictorial presentation of scenes from Indian mythological epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Garuda Purana, Krishna Leela, Markandeya Purana, and other mythological scripts.

WHAT WE LEARN
During the course of 10 days, we study different elements like borders, animals, florals, male and female figures while creating a painting on the rituals and legends related to the festival of Makar Sankranti, as celebrated locally.

We importantly also study the techniques and concepts of creating original compositions using these elements. Along with, we learn about the history of this art, from where it has traveled and how has it transformed over the centuries.

ARTIST
Sh. Pavan Nakash is a state awardee artist based in Hyderabad, whose family for generations have been into the making of the traditional Cheriyal scrolls.
