Helen's work always utilises found or discarded materials and in this case it was a pile of historic German prints found gathering dust at a friend's house. Often her work will repurpose surplus materials from the art industry - leaning on her artworld network to salvage off-cuts from other artsists. This display of resourcefulness makes myriad comments on the mores of our consumer culture generally and more specifically on the material and political dynamics of the art world.
Helen is an artist with a decorative eye who likes to create something from what might appear to others as nothing. A skilled craftsperson who embraces a broad range of materials and techniques (many of which go back to her days brought up in South Africa), her work is an exuberant coalescion of craft, low-grade materials and high art.

Best purchase ever
This watch is my daily driver. It offers all the bells and whistle for a price point that anyone can work hard and obtain. I do have a wild collection (wild to me. Near 200k in combined value) I can’t count the number of times someone’s asked me hey that’s a cool looking watch or is the the AP on rubber strap. In both instances people are shocked that you can get so much quality at this price point.
