Struggling with hems or clothes that don’t fit quite right? This focused, skill-building class breaks down common hemming methods and basic alterations. 

You’ll practice multiple hemming techniques on scrap fabric, then walk through common clothing alterations with your instructor. Bring a few garments for discussion. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how to approach hemming and simple fit fixes with confidence. You don't alter your own garment in this class. After this class, you can take Alterations 201, where you complete an alteration on a garment.

Materials

Provided: Fabric scraps, sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, and iron
Needed: 2–3 garments with light to moderate hem or fit issues for demonstration
